In The Thicket

About In The Thicket

"The soul that longs for divine wisdom chooses first, and in truth, to enter the thicket of the cross." - St. John of the Cross This is a podcast about suffering, and about hope. Rachael, Erin, and Nicole are friends who have supported each other through various ups and downs of life in the past few years. We believe it is important to have a space to speak honestly about some of the more difficult times of life... without losing sight of hope and humour!

S6E4: Bishop Conley: Depending on God

Erin and Nicole have a conversation with Bishop James Conley of Lincoln, Nebraska. He shares about his experience with mental health struggles which led to him taking a leave of absence from his ministry as a bishop back in 2019, healing, being a whole person, and learning to depend on God. Bishop Conley suggested lots of resources for those on their own mental health journey. Many of these are listed here in his pastoral letter "A Future with Hope" at the bottom. https://www.lincolndiocese.org/all-documents/statements/2331-bishop-conley-mental-health-pastoral-letter/file
