EP3. Dominic Chorney & Guy Stainthorpe – Why do we collect?
Welcome to Incomplete: A Complete Collector Podcast! In this episode, I’m joined by Guy Stainthorpe and Dominic Chorney. Guy is Brand Managing Director of Corgi and the Corgi Model Club. A lifelong enthusiast of die-cast models, Guy turned his childhood passion into a career, and now steers one of the most iconic model brands in the UK.
Dominic is an ancient coin specialist, author, and auctioneer a Stanley Gibbons Baldwin's. He spends his days uncovering and selling some of history’s most fascinating artefacts- and, as we’ll hear, also has a bit of a soft spot for Pokémon trading cards.
This episode is shaped by a major new collector survey conducted by Hornby Hobbies Limited and Stanley Gibbons Baldwin’s. The results reveal surprising truths about why we collect, how our collecting habits evolve over time, and the emotional triggers behind them. From nostalgic memories to rare finds, and from family influences to lifelong obsessions, we unpack the fascinating psychology - and sociology - of collecting.

EP2. Harvey Stanley – Will EVs Kill Car Collecting?
Harvey Stanley is the UK Director of Sales at RM Sotheby’s. A lifelong car enthusiast, Harvey has spent over 14 years working with some of the rarest and most iconic cars, selling many of the most valuable examples on the market. As both an expert and an avid racing driver himself, he’s had the privilege of getting behind the wheel of some of the greatest cars ever built.
Today, we’re tackling the big questions: Will car collecting survive in a world shifting to EVs? And do the owners of multimillion-pound Ferraris actually drive them? Plus, we’ll uncover why the greatest car ever made isn’t so great to drive—and how you can be a car collector without a fortune.
We hope you enjoy the episode.
