<p>Het lijkt alsof er steeds meer Nederlandse indiebands zijn die Engeland willen veroveren. Wat heb je er aan om als beginnende band in Engeland te touren? Is het wel rendabel? En hoe krijg je je eerste fans in de UK?</p> <p>Pip Blom, die al jaren in Engeland tourt en o.a. op Glastonbury speelde geeft antwoord op deze vragen. Jelle Schotanus, die nu een jaar voor het Engelse UROK management werkt (Tom Odell, Liam Gallagher, Oliver Malcolm) vertelt over de verschillen in de muziek cultuur, industrie en sound.</p> <p>Op 12 maart organiseert Indie in Town een live-evenement in de Victoria Londen. Activisme in songteksten, democratie in een band en je eigen pad bewandelen in de muziekindustrie met de Klittens
<p><strong>Een nieuwe Indie in Town podcast!</strong></p> <p>In deze aflevering sprak Indie in Town de vijfkoppige band de Klittens uit Amsterdam. De band staat bekend om hun super-democratische manier van werken, waar geen individu maar het collectief de beslissingen neemt. Thom vroeg hoe dat besluitvormingsproces in de realiteit werkt. </p> <p>Ook wordt besproken wat het betekent om 'muzikant' zijn, wat de positieve en negatieve punten zijn van activisme in teksten en waarom de band bijvoorbeeld niet snel een Popronde of een Noorderslag zou spelen. </p>

Banji over samen opgroeien, muziekopleidingen en muziekcultuur
<p>Thom ging langs bij de Nederlandse popband Banji om een Indie in Town podcast op te nemen met zanger Morris Brandt en gitarist Gilles van Wees. Banji is een indiepopband uit Utrecht, bestaande uit Morris Brandt (zang, gitaar), Gilles de Wees (multi-instrumentalist), Jasper Meurs (drums) en Twan de Roo (toetsen). Morris en Gilles speelden samen al in Palmsy en Radio Eliza, en in de podcast komen we er achter dat de twee elkaar al heel erg lang kennen. Inmiddels studeert Morris aan de popopleiding van het Conservatorium van Amsterdam en heeft Gilles de opleiding Music Production and Sound Engineering afgerond bij het Abbey Road Institute. De twee vertellen wat ze hebben geleerd op die opleidingen. </p> <p>Vond je deze podcast leuk?
