MXTV creator Brendan Bell

This episode of the INFO MOTO Podcast Snag and Spencer sit down with Brendan Bell, the man behind MXTV, Australia's longest-running off-road dirt bike television show. Brendan started MXTV with no TV experience and got it on Melbourne's Channel 31 in 2001, then grew it into a show that aired across Europe and Asia to millions of viewers. Twenty-five years on, he's still the driving force behind it, and these days he's also the creator and co-host of the Aussie Adventure Bike Show.

Brendan tells us about the early KX 80 days around Campbellfield, the junior Suzuki ride that nearly happened, and what it actually took to build and keep a motorcycle TV show alive through the shift to free-to-air, and the move to streaming. They talk about the adventure bike boom, taking the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 behind the scenes of its launch, and how the relationship between manufacturers and motorcycle media has changed over a quarter of a century.

Proudly supported by Kriega. Mick Hone: The racer, the team, the crash and the legacy

The boys sit down with Mick Hone, former Superbike racer, founder of Mick Hone Motorcycles in Mont Albert, and one of the most fascinating people in Australian motorcycling, for a conversation that covers all of it. Getting sacked from Peter Stevens and opening his own shop with no money. Hiring Robbie Phillis and watching him win 19 of 21 races in a season. The bond with Peter Brock and the Holden Dealer Team. Being in the car at Targa West. And why, after 45 years, he still runs a shop that sells motorbikes the old way.

Visit Kriega.com.au
