Scienziati, attivisti e comunicatori non dovrebbero mai minimizzare o nascondere le complessità connaturate ai modelli climatici ma esistono modi più efficaci di altri per consentirci di capire meglio cosa stia succedendo e iniziare un percorso di evoluzione e cambiamento. Non esistono formule magiche, ma le scienze sociali hanno dimostrato che si può fare certamente divulgazione per rendere il messaggio più accessibile al di fuori della comunità accademica stabilendo un legame e valori condivisi tra il comunicatore e l’audience. Riduzione degli sprechi, aumento dell’efficienza, protezione dell’ambiente e un’energia sicura sempre disponibile e a basso costo sono alcuni dei valori comuni di riferimento che influiscono sull’opinione pubblica individuale. Dal punto di vista del metodo presentare un racconto anziché un grafico può aiutare a comprendere concetti complessi e astratti. Per fare comunicazione sul cambiamento climatico la narrazione serve a raccontare meglio il problema e soprattutto indicare alternative e soluzioni che consentano di agire come individui per contribuire a contrastare i rischi.
