Hebrews 7 Bible Study - A Better High Priest (in the Order of Melchizedek) - WHO IS MELCHIZEDEK?

In this study, we dive deep into the mysterious figure of Melchizedek and how he points to Jesus as our eternal High Priest. Drawing from a brief historical encounter in Genesis 14 and King David’s prophetic poetry in Psalm 110, we unpack how the New Testament beautifully unlocks these ancient mysteries in Hebrews 7. We look closely at Melchizedek's titles as the "King of Righteousness" and "King of Peace," exploring how he is a "type" or "picture" pointing to Christ. By comparing the strict limits of the historical Levitical priesthood against the endless, unchangeable priesthood of Jesus (in the order of Melchizedek), we see exactly why Christ stands as our supreme High Priest who secures a better hope and a better covenant for us all. The ultimate take away from Hebrews 7 (and a study of Melchizedek) is that the middleman is completely gone, we can approach God's throne boldly! Under the old system, an imperfect human priest stood between us and God, keeping a stark distance between the Creator and the people. However, when Jesus offered Himself as a perfect, once-for-all sacrifice, the temple veil was torn from top to bottom, symbolizing the open access to God through Christ. Because Jesus is our eternal High Priest continuously interceding for us at the right hand of the Father, we never have to approach God with hesitation, shame, or fear. As we are reminded in Hebrews 4.16, we can come boldly to the throne of grace, completely confident that we will receive exactly the help we need. Hebrews 5:11-6:20 Bible Study - A Strong Warning

In this Bible study, we dive into Hebrews 5.11 - 6.20 to explore a profound warning against falling away and falling into spiritual apathy. The author pauses the deep conversation regarding Jesus as our high priest in the order of Melchizedek to deliver a necessary rebuke to Christians who have become nōthros (sluggish, lazy, or complacent in their faith). Rather than remaining on spiritual "milk," we are challenged to mature, move on to "solid food," and actively grow in our daily walk so we can discern good from evil and build up the body of Christ. We look at the historical-cultural context of these Jewish believers facing intense persecution in Rome and examine the foundational elements of faith that we are called to build upon.

We also tackle the heavily debated passage in Hebrews 6.4-8 concerning apostasy, exploring both sides of the theological conversation regarding eternal security versus the potential of losing one's salvation. Ultimately, this study transitions from a sobering warning to a powerful message of encouragement centered on God's unchangeable word and oath. Discover how the Abrahamic Covenant reminds us of God's absolute faithfulness, providing a hope that acts as a secure anchor for our souls. Hebrews 4:14-5:10 Bible Study - A Better Priesthood

Discover the profound significance of Jesus Christ as our "Great High Priest" through this in-depth exploration of Hebrews 04.14-05.10. In this study, we contrast the traditional Old Testament Levitical priesthood—established through the lineage of Aaron—with the superior, eternal priesthood of Christ. Human high priests were divinely chosen from among the people to serve as intercessors and comforters for Israel. Jesus is the uniquely begotten Son of God who functions as our ultimate high priest in the timeless order of Melchizedek, offering a perfect, sinless, and permanent intercession from His heavenly seat at the right hand of the Father. By examining how Jesus fulfills these three essential priestly roles—being divinely chosen, acting as our perfect intercessor, and serving as our ultimate comforter—this message highlights His capacity to truly empathize with our weaknesses because He was tempted in every way. This teaching provides a direct application for your daily walk, encouraging you to hold firmly to your faith and to approach God’s throne of grace with absolute confidence. Whether you are seeking a deeper understanding of biblical theology or looking for practical spiritual encouragement, this study reveals how resting in Christ's finished work brings true mercy, grace, and peace in your time of needTeaching Notes: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1G6EjH-SZuAKWwgcsNdrDiTvRaFedYj2d_YHyIErtpQQ/edit?usp=sharing
