Less of Me, More of Them...in Zoom

<p>After updating everyone on how my district is approaching instruction during the COVID-19 pandemic, we explore the notion of students' reluctance to use their cameras during Zoom sessions. </p> <p>We briefly explore what "presence" means in the classroom and how that can translate to a live online session. To help navigate through this, we can learn from Gary Stager's advice on teachers' role in meaningful learning, "Less Us, More Them". </p> <p>How can we make our live sessions "a better use of everyone's time"? I relate my experience with transforming my live sessions where it was more about ME as the teacher to those where it is all about the STUDENT. </p> <p><strong>Articles Cited During the Episode</strong></p> <ul> <li><a href= "https://www.edutopia.org/article/engaging-students-virtual-instruction-camera" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Engaging Students in Virtual Instruction With the Camera Off</a></li> <li><a href="http://stager.tv/?p=4749" target="_blank" rel= "noopener">"This is Our Moment" by Gary Stager</a></li> <li><a href= "https://www.aisnsw.edu.au/Course%20and%20Conference%20Materials/Brain%20Breaks%20on%20Zoom.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Brain Breaks Zoom Edition</a></li> </ul> <div class="top-contrib-block"> <div class="contribs"> <p class="contrib-container top-contrib"> <strong>Music<br /></strong>Son of a Rocket by Kevin MacLeod<br /> Link: <a href= "https://incompetech.filmmusic.io/song/4391-son-of-a-rocket">https://incompetech.filmmusic.io/song/4391-son-of-a-rocket</a><br /> License: <a href= "http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/">http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/</a></p> <p class="contrib-container top-contrib"><strong>Download Is This Online on iTunes/Apple Podcasts:</strong> <a href= "https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/is-this-online/id1512758915">https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/is-this-online/id1512758915</a></p> <p class="contrib-container top-contrib">Visit our website at: <a href="https://www.zundel.net/isthisonline" target= "_blank" rel= "noopener noreferrer">https://www.zundel.net/isthisonline</a></p> </div> </div> <p><strong>Follow us on Twitter:</strong> <a href= "https://zundel.net/isthisonline/twitter.com/isthisonlinepod" target="_blank" rel= "noopener noreferrer">twitter.com/isthisonlinepod</a></p>
