State Props are here! Per usual, there’s some weird wording happening within these props as well as in the history of some of these ballot initiatives. There are repeats, extensions of funding, and complete 180 degree turns within these 12 State props involving housing, health, affirmative action, and wealth inequality. THERE IS ONE WEEK LEFT WHEN THIS EPISODE DROPS TO MAIL IN YOUR BALLOT for the 2020 election cycle… the last day, of course, is November 3rd! We’re releasing these informational episodes to not only help voters with their ballot (confusing or misleading info), but inspire non-voters to engage in the process that decides the people, props and policies affecting us EVERY DAY. In this episode, we cover California’s FIFTY THREE members of the House of Representatives in the United States Congress. Well, races to watch (but info on all CA districts are on the website!). While our State votes “Dem” for President, we also have a lot of Representatives NOT doing their job of representing their constituents. Since the 2018 midterms in California, things have been changing for good, but some of those changes are… not so good... Subscribe on Apple Podcasts to get a notification for the newest State and Local Proposition episodes! This episode was the first recorded in our State and Local election episodes, and there is some dated info - most notably - a comparison to Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg prior to her passing soon after. Although this led to a double, triple and even quadruple take while editing, it’s still relevant and if anything, accurately predicted WHY this stuff MATTERS. Early voting in California is well under way, and millions of people have already cast their ballot! Registered voters in California have received their ballots for the 2020 General Election: “don’t boo, vote”. Keeping it to the candidates moving forward, in this bonus episode, we breakdown some basics of what Congress does day-to-day and how it affects all people in America. Speaking of Congress members representing California: in this episode we also congratulate US Senator, Kamala Harris, for her nomination for Vice President of the United States. This position includes the duty of President of the Senate (they make tie breaking votes). We also throw in the State Senate race for California district 11 - Incumbent Scott Weiner and activist Jackie Fielder - TEA.
