I've Been Listening is a freeform discussion-based podcast with 'expert' guests. I want to explore the idea of everyone being an expert in their own way of thinking about the world, whether that perspective is all the way thought through, or not! I aim to use the power of conversation to touch on topics ranging from business to friendship to travel to explore ways of looking at the world through unique perspectives. I want to break the idea that you can't talk about something until you have it all figured out. Follow my podcast Instagram @ivebeenlistening to engage with me on the episodes!

How do you stay motivated when you're self-employed? w/ Dikayo

In this episode, we talk about this question and more all in relation to 'being your own boss.' We discuss the concept of success, how you can be a good CEO but a bad manager, and many more topics in relation to business, money, and creativity. I speak with Danielle, creator of the podcast #Datafemme for her perspective on all these questions and we also speak a bit about data, considering I'm also a data nerd.

This episode is a bit different than other episodes I've released and recorded since we talk about money and business, and I hate capitalism in lots of ways (lol). But I think that's what makes it an interesting discussion because at least working for yourself is better than working for "the man" because at the end of the day we all have to make a living somehow. I would love to explore the faults of capitalism in another episode. I also think Danielle has done well at staying grounded during her search for success and financial freedom.

Anywho, I hope you enjoy it, and please let me know what you think by reaching out to me on Instagram @rachelaadelle

Where do song ideas come from Part II w/ Kris Hansen

I want you to know that this episode was so fun to record, and that's why it went on for two hours! I think a little later on I may leave the long episodes long, but for now, I wanted to split it up. Leave you with some anticipation. But the wait is over! Here is part II of where do songs come from with Kris Hansen. We get a little more rambly in this episode as the night got later, but I think we started forgetting that the microphone was right in front of us and just unleashed ourselves. I had just asked Kris in Part I if he thought there was a reason why anger doesn't show up in music, and we start the episode by really chatting it up about emotions and their place in our lives. It does end on a lighter note with us sharing our love of Weird Al and a pretty silly story Kris has about Enya. So take a listen if those topics sound interesting to you. I hope you enjoy it!

You can connect with Kris on Instagram here @amlgmtn_

....and listen to his new single here!

And follow me @rachelaadelle on instagram.

Where do song ideas come from? Part I w/Kris Hansen

Where do song ideas come from? In this episode of I've Been Listening, I sit down with the one and only Kris Hansen and try to answer that question and many more. We discuss pop songs, emotions, what makes the creation process so different, and so much more! I loved learning from Kris about how he believes creation comes to be. We also talk about how everyone is creative but music creation has been gate kept, making people believe that they aren't creative and splitting us into boxes of musician, scientist, etc. I hope this episode helps you to break down some of those barriers and also learn a little about how, possibly, some of your favorite songs may have been created.

Kris's Links

Instagram

His new single!
