Viski Soru 47 - İskoçya viski bölgeleri nerelerdir?
İskoç viski bölgeleri temel olarak haritada 4 adet gösterilir. Bunlar Lowland, Highland, Speyside ve adalar. Ancak bazı haritalarda Campbeltown bölgesi de bir viski bölgesi olarak adlandırılabilir. Genelde de biz buna 4,5 deriz. Bunun haricinde Speyside gene bazı haritalarda Highland bölgesinin içinde gösterilirken, Highland’i de 4 bölgeye, yani kuzey, güney, doğu ve batı diye ayırmak mümkündür.

İrlandalı’larla İskoç’lar, “viskiyi sen buldun, ben buldum” diye tatlı bir kavganın içindedir. Ancak tarihe baktığımızda hem İrlandalı’lar hem de İskoç’lar, viskiyi ilk üreten topluluklar olarak adlandırılabilir. İrlanda viskileri de gene İskoç viskileri gibi geleneksel usülde üretilir. Yani “single malt”, “single grain” ve ikisinin karışımıyla yaptıkları blended viskiler, İrlanda viskilerinin genel iskeletini oluşturur. En önemli fark, İrlanda ve İskoç viskileri arasında, İskoçlar iki defa damıtma yaparken, İrlandalı’larda bu sayı üç olur. Aynı zamanda İrlanda viskileri, İskoç viskileri kadar is, füme notları taşımayan viskiler olarak adlandırılabilir.
