Da The Beatles i slutningen af 1960'erne var ved at falde fra hinanden, trætte og udkørte, med en George Harrison som netop havde forladt gruppen, dukkede Billy Preston pludseligt op. Og så begyndte de at jamme. Spilleglæden blev fundet frem igen. Måske reddede han ved sin blotte tilstedeværelse ligefrem beatlerne i den sidste tid. Vi ser på Billy Prestons vilde og også hårde liv, og ikke mindst hvilken indflydelse han havde på pladerne Let It Be og Abbey Road.
