GARY DUNHAM HASN’T BEEN ON SOCIAL MEDIA & WALKED HAMILTON LIKE IT’S 1989
40 years. That’s how long it’s been since I’d seen Gary Dunham — aka Husky Boots — in person.
Gary and I went to the same all-boys vocational school in Hamilton, Ontario. The school has since been bulldozed, which is probably for the best. The teachers were characters who seemed impossible to fire. One kept a mickey in his desk drawer. We made grappling hooks in welding class. It was exactly the kind of education you’d expect us to have.
For this episode of ROUSTABOUT, Gary and I walk through Hamilton and down Barton Street, revisiting the neighbourhoods, schools and landmarks we knew when we were teenage academic rejects.
We get into Gary’s life after school and prison, the Hamilton drug scene, encampments, needle drop boxes, graffiti, COVID lockdowns, my move to London on an ancestry visa, and what happened to the city we remember.
Gary has basically lived like a ghost — no social media, no online bullshit — and somehow 40 years later we’re back walking Hamilton together like it’s 1989.
This is what ROUSTABOUT is really for.

Div Sidhu
From India to Denmark: Div Sidhu Hosting Roast Battles in Danish | Roustabout
This week in Copenhagen, I sit down with comedian Div Sidhu.
Originally from India, Div ended up in Denmark after his employer moved his position from Norway so he could stay with his girlfriend. After losing both of his parents within four months of each other, he found stand-up comedy and has spent the last three years helping build Copenhagen's small but growing English-language comedy scene.
We talk about roast battles, dating culture, ancestry visas, performing at a major Danish TV gala, and what it's like trying to make comedy work in one of the most organized countries in the world.
Div also shares his plans to record a comedy special in Copenhagen and why he's betting on Denmark's comedy scene.
Hosted by Jason Rouse.

Jason Vest
Jason Vest is a veteran, stand-up comedian, and the man behind Hard Ons for Heroes — a project that started as a comedy video and somehow grew into a legitimate initiative to get care packages and OnlyFans access to deployed troops. Maddie Mae and her 58-year-old former lawyer mother are involved. I'll let him explain.
We walked Austin and covered a lot of ground — the 48-hour comedy content shoot in Las Vegas with a porn star, getting permanently banned from Lifetime Fitness over a TikTok, the Barton Springs sugar incident, doing stand-up at a swingers party while a woman rode a Sybian in the background, childhood trauma from a small town in Michigan, and what it actually takes to make it as a headlining comedian without doing material about dentist appointments.
He's got a custom rifle coming in two weeks, upcoming dates with Dave Landau and Charlie Mack from Kill Tony, and a movie on Amazon called Sangreen Teeth and a Driftless Road. He played a burner. Charlie played a vampire. We're all gonna be okay.

[…] Yeah. No agenda or. No. I was just there to have fun. We're doing comedy. Let's do that. Yeah. Exactly. Which was probably. Like, I probably should have been a bit more pushed a bit more. But I was having fun, man. I was just enjoying it. Yeah. You know, and, and, and meeting other people who were into comedy The way that I was was great, right? Yeah. People. And like I say, people who'd never meet. Like, me when I would never meet. In any other. Contacts. You know what I mean? We're not going to show up at a concert together. Well, Jay, you're the Huey Lewis concert. What's going on, man? Yeah. […]
