The Future of the Galaxy: Podcast Day 2025

Kynobi and David Ren discuss all the latest rumors and rumblings of the galaxy far far away and contemplate what the future holds for our favorite galaxy.

Happy Star Wars Podcast Day 2025! This is the annual, unofficial celebration of the Star Wars fan audio community.

This is our fifth annual Star Wars Podcast Day celebration. Over 60 Star Wars and related podcasts are taking part by releasing episodes today and throughout the coming week. Be sure to give them a listen. Discover them by following the hashtags #StarWarsPodcastDay & #SWPD2025. Hopefully you will find a show or two (or more!) to add to your regular listening lineup.

Why today? Well, 26 years ago today on February 7, 1999 three guys from Salt Lake City, Utah (Mark "Kal Thanos" Hendersen, Lucien "Darion Blade" Maier & Eugene "Lars Quillion" Cash) sat down to record the first episode of Jedi Talk. The launch of their live weekly 'Internet radio show' would be available (in RealAudio format!) for people to download and listen to on computers and portable media players. The basis of modern day podcasting was there, even if the word 'podcast' wouldn't appear for another half-decade.

Who could imagine more than a quarter century later, we would have thousands of podcasts covering every aspect of the Star Wars fandom? From the latest news, to streaming show recaps, to action figures, to card collecting, to books, comics, gaming, actual plays, audio dramas, cosplaying and more! It all began right there, on that day in 1999.

Some shows, like SW en Direct Talk-show have been going strong for over 20 years, while others are pressing the record button and uploading for the very first time today. All of them share a love for the universe George Lucas created way back in 1977; and want to share that passion with others through the medium of audio.

Nowadays podcasting is a part of mainstream culture, with millions of people around the world sharing countless hours with their favorite shows and hosts. Star Wars Podcast Day was created to celebrate the ongoing popularity of this little portion of our beloved fandom. Thanks again, Lucien, Mark and Eugene. I bet you never realized what the three of you started 26 years ago today.

Daniel (Star Wars Podcast Day - February 7, 2025)🙂👍🏾

Opening Music : Samuel Kim Music

Closing Music : John Williams

Jawa Jabber : A Star Wars Podcast is not endorsed by The Walt Disney Company or Lucasfilm Limited and is intended for entertainment and informational purposes only.
