In today’s episode, I recorded at Hope Church in Memphis, Tennessee, with my friends Virginia and Steve Tilleros. Virginia is a past client, friend, and Life Coach in Memphis and her husband Steve is on staff at Hope Church. As 3 professionals in the “helping” business, we wanted to have a conversation about the basics of therapy—Therapy 101. We deal with questions such as how to find a therapist, what to look for in a therapist, what the process of therapy is like, etc. The three of us hope this episode continues to move the needle on taking away the stigma of therapy that still exists in our culture and making therapy approachable for everyone.

To Mississippi with Love
In this episode, I tell the story of a recent trip back to a place I lived as a child. I lived in Walnut, MS, and went to school in Chalybeate, MS, for 4 years in middle school. I had not been back or been in contact with my friends there in over 40 years. Hear how this trip changed my life, brought healing, reconnected me with people I love, and taught me more of who I was meant to be.

Parenting Job Description
In this episode, I share what I believe to be the most important question we need to ask ourselves prior to having children.
I also discuss 8 key points that make up a parenting “Job Description.” These points have been derived from my experience with clients, my traumatic childhood, and my gained wisdom from parenting my two boys, ages 15 and 27. I hope the thoughts shared today will lead to honest self-evaluation and provocative thought around our own parenting journeys!

I Dare You to Raise Your Bar
In this week’s episode, I interview Julie Harper on the art of valuing yourself. Julie is a life coach, writer, musician and founder of an online community called I Am Her. We talk about how our life and the company we keep changes as we add value and vibrate at a higher frequency. We also discuss some tools to begin to see yourself with higher value if you aren’t quite there yet. Enjoy listening to 2 women who have done a lot of their own personal work to be at the high frequency they individually are…and who share a passion for calling men and women to their highest value so they can serve their unique purpose in this world.

You Have the Power to Build a Lovely Life for Yourself
In the episode, I talk about when I first heard a voice tell me I had the power to build a lovely life for myself and how that principle has carried me through the last 25 years and many seasons of life. I discuss what you need to think about to identify what to do to start building your own lovely life. I talk about the tool of recognizing positives in each season of life so we don’t risk wishing life away waiting for the “next best thing”. Lastly, I address the importance of actually believing you have the lovely life you desire within yourself TODAY—so let’s get building!

Jen Shares Her Story - Part 1
In this pilot episode of the Jennifer VanOrman + Friends podcast, I share my life story. I am a licensed therapist working in Private Practice in Nashville, Tennessee. Despite my 15 years of experience working with thousands of clients, I feel my most important credentials are my own journey as a childhood trauma survivor, a widowed single mom, a divorced single mom, and 30 years of my own therapeutic, healing work. I want to be vulnerable on this podcast and very open about my own personal journey from brokenness and darkness to healing and light. I hope you hear that in this episode and feel encouraged on your own personal journey.
In following episodes, my occasional guests and I will be talking about all things, life, love, and mental health. It is my passion to provide tools, techniques, resources, and all around helpful information so that you have what you need to continue to grow and heal wherever you are on your own journey.
