The Beginning: Making Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace (Ep. #18)
It may have been nearly two years since Jessica and Andy have released a real episode, but they are back and better than ever with the longest episode in Jessica and Andy WILL Own a Christmas Tree Farm history. America’s favorite siblings bring you a rousing discussion about “The Beginning: Making Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace,” a documentary that gives an unbelievably clear view of exactly how friend of the podcast George Lucas and his team at Lucasfilm and ILM brought The Phantom Menace to life. Jessica discusses the assassination of former President John F. Kennedy, James Cameron’s true calling, and coked-up Rick McCallum, and Andy discusses the Drake versus Kendrick rap beef and how he will always prefer an earnest artistic vision to a calibrated corporate product. Ratatouille (Ep. #17)
Once again Jessica and Andy return, and this time they bring you perhaps the most delicious meal of cinematic nostalgia imaginable: Pixar’s 2007 masterpiece Ratatouille. Jessica reflects on the sheer absurdity of the premise and concept of the film, and Andy contends that the film is nothing short of Writer-Director Brad Bird’s personal manifesto on the very notion of greatness. Jessica’s cult segment returns, and Andy explains the difference between Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar Animation Studios with an unexpected (but warranted) fervor. Jessica reflects on the nature of revisiting a film through the lens of adulthood and figuring out how funny everything in it really is, and Andy discusses shocking and sometimes unsettling information he learned from watching the film with director commentary. Monsters, Inc. (Ep. #15)
In an episode recorded nearly half a year ago and having sat on Andy’s laptop unedited during that time, Jessica and Andy are once again staging a comeback against the cosmic forces which seem to oppose their ambitions. These siblings truly cannot be stopped, and in this episode discuss the formative and deeply rewatchable 2003 film Monsters, Inc. which has aged extremely well in a number of surprising and unsurprising ways. Taylor Swift (Ep. #10)
In this one Andy pitches FlavorTown USA, a food themed amusement park made by Guy Fieri. Jessica talks about a rock quite a bit, and Andy talks quite a bit about LEGO things despite this episode being about Taylor Swift. Andy breaks out a few of his celebrity impressions in his seemingly endless quest to be a suburban dad, and then we go on a Kanye West style Kanye West rant at the end. The Wee Sing Train (Ep. #9)
We are so back baby! COVID-19 tried to stop us from making our podcast continue, but we can’t be stopped. In this episode we talk about a classic from our childhood, The Wee Sing Train, a children’s special from the 1990s that we watched so many times growing up. It was a trip down memory lane, to say the least. Andy discusses the McElroy brother’s big-screen debut in the film Trolls World Tour, and we answer our first listener question. Please send us questions! Ask us anything! Also there is briefly a guitar in this episode, and a lot more singing than we planned on.
