This episode continues a series on difficult Bible passages through 2 Kings 6–7, where Samaria’s siege and famine become so severe that people buy unclean food and two women agree to boil and eat a child. The sermon connects this tragedy to Deuteronomy’s curses for disobedience and warns against looking to government first instead of God. As the king blames God and seeks Elisha’s death, Elisha prophesies that provision will come the next day, while an officer doubts and is told he will see it but not eat. Four lepers discover God has driven the Syrians away, creating abundance, and they decide they must share the good news. Why are the Wicked Raised Again?
A Seventh-day Adventist pastor reflects on a long-held question—why the wicked are resurrected after the thousand years if sin’s wages are death—and concludes it is to end the controversy over sin openly, fairly, and without leaving any doubt about God’s goodness. He argues God’s judgments are investigative, transparent, and evidence-based, citing biblical patterns of careful inquiry and contrasting them with the unjust trial of Jesus. The final judgment, with “the books opened,” will reveal not only what the wicked did but also everything God did to save them, leading every knee to bow and confess God’s justice. Look and Live: Born Again Through Belief (John 3 & the Bronze Serpent)
The sermon centers on John 3 and Nicodemus’s nighttime visit with Jesus, presenting Nicodemus as a model of spiritual curiosity and reminding listeners that wealth, fame, or status cannot satisfy like a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Jesus tells Nicodemus that no one can see or enter the Kingdom of God unless they are born again—born of water and the Spirit—using the wind to illustrate the Spirit’s mysterious but evident work and referencing Old Testament promises of a new heart and spirit. The message connects Jesus being “lifted up” to Moses lifting the bronze serpent in Numbers 21: people bitten by deadly snakes only had to look to live, symbolizing salvation’s simplicity. “Look and live” means continual belief in Christ’s sufficient sacrifice, choosing light over darkness, with good works flowing from being in the Kingdom rather than earning it.
