Everybody warned me that the recovery following my tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy was going to be rough. “Stay hydrated or you’ll wind up in the emergency room like I did!” Yet, waking up every hour on the dot to drink water wasn’t enough to keep me away from the hospital. Facing the rare 2% risk of a post-operative, secondary hemorrhage, I wound up needing emergency surgery on a Friday night the week after my surgery.
