Each episode of Jim’s Sidebar is a collection of my daily, unfiltered thoughts - recorded while I’m out and about, thinking about AI, business, building Sidebar, or whatever problem I’m trying to solve that day. No scripts, no over-editing, just real ideas stitched together into a weekly conversation.
Expect raw insights, spontaneous takes, and the kind of thinking that happens when you’re away from your desk. Whether it’s a lesson from building an app, a rant about AI, or a random observation, this is where the side of my brain that doesn’t fit in a tweet gets to talk.
This week, I’m diving into the kind of chaos that only a few weeks of deadlines, school holidays, and endless rain can bring. I’ve been juggling everything, from moving spaces to keeping my kids entertained, and it’s all leading to some wild updates on my tech setup. If you’re curious about how I’m using AI to keep projects alive while I’m out and about, you’ll want to hear this.

Software one day, commercial leases the next
This week, I'm wrestling with a real head-scratcher—a lease that feels like it's spiraling out of control, and somehow, the podcast itself has taken a backseat. I'm trying to untangle the chaos of co-working realities while juggling family life and tech projects that are pulling me in all directions. If you're curious about how I'm navigating this mental tug-of-war, you'll want to hear what I'm figuring out next.

My brain is everywhere. Come and have a look.
So, here's the thing this podcast is a bit like my kitchen at the end of a busy week. There's a half-finished coffee, a bunch of half-baked ideas, and the occasional moment of oh, that actually turned out alright. It's me, Jim, rambling through the chaos of building stuff, breaking stuff, and occasionally stumbling into something that works.
This week I’m rambling on about AI models that blow your mind and then next thing I get yanked to the joy (and pain) of running a co-working space, and the eternal struggle of trying to fit 48 hours of work into 24. There's songwriting with my 12-year-old, pitches that need polishing, and the never-ending quest to make forms not suck.
It's unfiltered, it's a bit messy, and if I'm honest it's probably not for everyone. But if you like your insights with a side of real-life chaos, pull up a stool. Let's see where this goes.

Designing an intelligence layer for forms
This week’s episode is pretty short after being away working. But I did have some big breakthroughs with Debriefer that I go into more detail about.
There’s a lot going on that I cannot put into this podcast but as soon as I can, it’ll make for interesting listening I reckon.

A much needed holiday
My update from this week is a bit of a rollercoaster. I've been on holiday with my family, which was amazing, and it's really helped me get back into the swing of things. I've also been working on Cyber Essentials for my company, which I'm really proud of. I've also been working on Sidebar, which is going well, and I'm excited to release it to the App Store next week. I've also been thinking about how to share my podcasts with others and how to improve the platform. It's been a busy week, but it's been a good one, and I'm looking forward to the rest of the week.

Not quite so smooth this week
Hey, this is your host. I'm excited to share some updates from this week. My podcast is now live on Spotify for Creators. I've been working on a lot of things, including tweaking the app and experimenting with new features. I'm also getting ready to launch my main business data filter, which is a huge undertaking. I've been learning a lot about digital twins and AI, and I'm excited to share more about that next week. I'm also looking for feedback from users to help me improve the app. I'm hoping to launch the Sidebar app soon, and I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Launching my Sidebar podcast
Hey there, welcome to Sidebar, my very first podcast. It's been a whirlwind week for me, and I'm excited to share what I've learned along the way. From recording my first episode to setting up a feature that allows you to release and archive your podcast, I've had a lot to unpack.
Today was a busy Saturday, and I'm still trying to catch up on everything I've been working on. I've been working on improving the audio quality of my podcast and fixing some bugs that I've encountered. I've also been thinking about how I want to promote my podcast and how I want to make it easier for people to find and listen to.
One of the things that I'm really excited about is the new feature that I've added to my podcast app. This feature allows you to turn your podcast clips into videos, which you can then share on social media. It's a great way to promote your podcast and to engage with your audience.
I'm also excited about the fact that I've started a new project called debriefer. This project is about using agent-driven structured conversations to understand problems better. I'm really excited about the potential of this project and I'm looking forward to seeing where it takes me.
Overall, it's been a busy and exciting week, and I'm looking forward to seeing what the future holds. Thanks for listening, and I hope you enjoy my first podcast.
