They use biochemistry, structural methods,&nbsp;proteomics, and virology to investigate two essential&nbsp;regulatory&nbsp;complexes in HIV. Their studies have led&nbsp;to an understanding of how the HIV virus has evolved adaptable protein&nbsp;interfaces to hijack host machines and establish a unique&nbsp;regulatory circuit that drives gene expression during the HIV life&nbsp;cycle. Dr. Frankel has Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Stony Brook University. Dr. Frankel was a MIT Whitehead Institute Fellow.</p>
