Hello! I'm Joe DiMeo from Boston, MA, in the United States of America, and I've decided to document and reflect on life as it happens. This is a retrospective of my last 50+ years, coupled with an unscripted and increasingly more intentional approach to living life until the last day of my life. It ain't easy, but someone's got to do it!
I've been in real estate since 1999, and my ultimate goal was to sell a million-dollar-plus home, thinking that I would reach a certain unmatched level in my life. That day arrived many years ago, but I did not feel what I thought I'd feel. Let's talk about it.

A Small Business Owner's Perspective Before, During, and After Covid.
I once again have the pleasure of having an in-depth conversation with my great friend Frank Stamos. On today's episode, we get nitty gritty about owning a restaurant and wine shop, finding qualified employees, the effect of Covid before, during, and after the pandemic, and attempting to rationalize and understand how to navigate through the impact of all this and providing perspective for all of us. We hope you'll enjoy it!

Mother and Son Time
Spending time with my mom is important, and although I do my best to be with her often during the week, I often feel I should do more. We had a wonderful dinner together, had some great conversation, and watched a funny movie. Let's chat about it!

Growing Up Greek, Life, Parenting, and More!
I am very excited to have my very first guest on this podcast! Frank, my great friend, joins me for a great conversation about growing up Greek, life's pressures, expectations, and pursuing our parents' will. We then dive deep into our roles as parents with some healthy comparing and contrasting with the parenting of yesteryear. This show is very long, and we both thank you if you make it to the end!

This episode is recorded on the road. Let's explore Costco and try a different podcast style, recording bit by bit as we walk through the store and no background music. Join me, my mom ... and my girlfriend!

I'm Feeling the Winter Blues
I've been feeling funky these last two days, and it's all related to the winter weather here in New England! I shouldn't feel this way because we've had very mild temperatures so far, but it doesn't seem to be helping. Should I move? Let's talk about it.

Finding the Good in an Apparently Bad Situation
Everyone loved my dad, but he was a very complex man who pursued anything he wanted without thinking twice about how it would impact his family. The reason I had the fortune of growing up in Italy was 100% due to my dad's crazy antics. Interested in learning more?

Are We Products of Environment?
Is our perception of reality defined by the narrative and environment that surrounds us? Let's scratch the surface of this topic together!

Thoughts About Retirement
Do you ever think of what retirement looks or doesn't look like for you? The romantic notion of retirement is akin to the romance depicted in the movies. I remember being a hopeless romantic, going to the theatre, and wishing I had what they had on the big screen. Why can't I have what they have? Do you see where I am going with this? Real life does not reflect these stages in life. They can undoubtedly inspire, but putting all the pieces together after living a generally unscripted life can be challenging, and LOTS of mistakes have been made along the way.

Growing Up "Old World" and Seeking Perspective
I had the fortune of growing up in Italy in the late 70s to mid-80s. It was an experience that was foundational to who I am today. Life is all about perspective, and in this podcast, I explore the perspective of my childhood and a perspective learned from a Boston Globe article I read this morning.

My Perspective on Having Children
I had my first child when I was 29 years old. All I hear the younger generation talk about is how "expensive" it is to have children, which prompts them to wait a bit longer and leads them to have kids much later in life. This podcast episode was triggered while listening to an NPR piece talking about China's one-child policy, so here I am! Let's talk about it!

MLK, Jr. Day and Complaints About Airbnb
Today is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, and believe it or not, immediately after his assassination in 1968, many campaigned to create a national holiday in his name. It would finally be signed into law in 1983 when Ronald Reagan was president, and it wasn't until January 20, 1986, that the official first holiday was celebrated. Interestingly, many states resisted observing this holiday and it wasn't until the year 2000 that it was finally observed in all 50 US states. In this episode, we also talk about my dislike for what Airbnb has become and my multiple experiences using the platform.

Thank Goodness for Elvis!
Elvis was a gigantic figure in my life. I gravitated toward his music at the early age of 4 or 5, and here I am at 50, and the passion and gratitude for the man and his music have not dissipated one bit. He was instrumental in my appreciation of so many types of music, and since he just turned 88 years old a few days ago, I figured I'd chat about it with you.

I Am a Food Snob!
I had the incredible fortune of growing up in Italy. My taste buds have been trained since a young age by default. The flavors that my taste buds experienced are foundational to how I feel about food today. Let's delve into this topic for a bit.

My Mind Does Not Rest! Does Yours?
In today's episode, we discuss my incessant brain activity! Since I was a child, I've had this issue, and I cannot seem to turn it off. I have so many interests and hobbies that can be overwhelming at times. I know folks with no hobbies, aspirations, or pastimes, yet they seemingly live happily. How is this possible? I both cringe at this thought, and at the same time, I am envious of them because I wish I could be like this ... sometimes! Let's talk about it!

I Like My Coffee Hot!
The current level of pride and professionalism in the service industry leaves me bewildered. I used to be a hardcore coffee shop guy, but as the years have rolled by, these establishments appear to have done everything they can to keep me from buying their coffee and patronizing their coffee shops.
