Episode #61: I am sick of talking about Paul McCartney!

<p><strong>This week on the show...</strong></p><p><strong>Paul McCartney</strong> is one of the most, if not the most, enduring and studied people in pop culture, and as I learn more about myself, I enjoy using whatever Paul is presenting to the public (or trying to hide) about his past and present as a real-time compare and contrast.</p><p>I wasn’t going to watch the new Paul doc, <strong>Paul McCartney: Man On The Run</strong> until my friend <strong>David</strong> said he had seen it, loved it, and asked if I had watched it. I thought that it might be a fun topic to explore in the small, but substantial enough amount of time when David is commuting to work before the Rocky Mountains block his cell phone signal.</p><p>He replied, “Of course! We can totally nerd out.” I guess this meant I had to watch the film. It was my suggestion, after all. I just had a feeling that I would end up exactly where I am now. I am sick of talking about Paul McCartney! Please enjoy me talking about Paul McCartney.</p><p>+++</p><p><strong>As Mentioned!</strong></p><p>See my friend <strong>David</strong>’s daily Post-It Note Sharpie sketches on Instagram <a target="_blank" href="https://www.instagram.com/day_ly_drawing">here</a>.</p><p>Read my previous <strong>Paul</strong> article “Has Your Best Friend Ever Been Murdered?” <a target="_blank" href="https://open.substack.com/pub/superjews/p/has-your-best-friend-ever-been-murdered">here</a>.</p><p>See <strong>Paul</strong>’s emotional reaction while listening to <strong>“Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy)”</strong> <a target="_blank" href="https://youtu.be/j6kmDI-mw-Q?si=5L8Y0Ey3xD28Q7rt&#38;t=170">here</a>.</p><p>+++</p><p><strong>Buy My Book!</strong></p><p><strong>The Apples In Stereo</strong> by <strong>Josh Bloom</strong> is available now from <strong>J-Card Press. </strong>Choose your preferred bookseller: <a target="_blank" href="http://applesbook.com">applesbook.com</a>.</p><p><strong>NPR</strong>’s <strong>Jedd Beaudoin</strong> says it “makes us rethink the rock book.” <strong>Pitchfork</strong> writer <strong>Marc Masters</strong> calls it “uniquely compelling,” and <strong>Frank Valish</strong> of <strong>Under The Radar</strong> suggests it is “how music biographies should be written.”</p><p>+++</p><p><strong>Come With Me To See! • Spike Lee</strong>’s<strong> </strong><strong>Highest 2 Lowest</strong> (and unintentionally) <strong>Akira Kurosawa</strong>’s <strong>High and Low</strong></p><p>Watch at YouTube: <a target="_blank" href="https://youtu.be/hOqA_etIGhE">https://youtu.be/hOqA_etIGhE</a></p><p>+++</p><p>Follow <strong>The Josh Bloom Podcast </strong>on <a target="_blank" href="https://open.spotify.com/show/6zxCGBsvP95awY0gdzmHhw"><strong>Spotify</strong></a>, <a target="_blank" href="https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/josh-bloom/id1775967463"><strong>Apple Podcasts</strong></a>, or <a target="_blank" href="https://pod.link/1775967463">your preferred podcast app</a>!</p><p>Follow the <strong>1461 Days of Ignoring with Josh Bloom</strong> podcast<strong> </strong>— a weekly compilation of my daily posts — on <a target="_blank" href="https://open.spotify.com/show/6UI9cUaocLOBhZUND1dvPz"><strong>Spotify</strong></a>, <a target="_blank" href="https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/1461-days-of-ignoring-with-josh-bloom/id1866233663"><strong>Apple Podcasts</strong></a>, or <a target="_blank" href="https://pod.link/1866233663">your preferred podcast app</a>!</p><p>+++</p><p>If you enjoy my work and want to support me, please consider a <strong>Substack</strong> <a target="_blank" href="https://superjews.substack.com/subscribe">subscription</a>, or you can <a target="_blank" href="https://buymeacoffee.com/joshbloom"><strong>Buy Me A Coffee</strong></a>!</p><p>+++</p><p><strong>Let's connect!</strong> Visit me everywhere for everything at <a target="_blank" href="http://www.superjews.com">superjews.com</a> or <a target="_blank" href="http://iamjoshbloom.com">iamjoshbloom.com</a>.</p><p>+++</p><p><strong>Hi, it’s Josh:</strong></p><p>I'm serious about not taking life too seriously.™</p><p>I published my first newsletter before turning ten, written using my next-door neighbor’s typewriter, copied with carbon paper, and distributed to mailboxes on my bicycle.</p><p>One of my first stories was the obituary of <strong>John Belushi</strong>. Episode #60: Bloom Brothers Stage a Summit, Mormons Seem To Love The Smiths, What Is The Accutrac 4000?, Josh Gets Lost in Harlem

<p><strong>This week on the show...</strong></p><p>I have an exciting, touching, yet a touch excruciating, but ultimately elucidating update about the state of affairs in the world of myself and my sibling, as has been documented here on <strong>The Josh Bloom Podcast</strong> as well as other social media platforms. Today, this is a feel-good story.</p><p>I discuss my discovery of a tiny bit cringey, but still satisfyingly listenable <strong>Smiths</strong>-dedicated podcast that I came to realize is hosted by a Mormon—not that there’s anything wrong with that—which leads me to some questions.</p><p>Later, we get into my obsession with the two <strong>Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band</strong> live albums from my childhood and what that has to do with my father's mid-1970s acquisition of a turntable for an amount of money equal to nearly $3,000 today. Where did that money come from? I have questions.</p><p>Then we wrap up this week discussing why I now hate NYC. It’s not NYC’s fault, it’s <strong>Josh Bloom</strong>’s fault, and in fact, upon reflection, I don’t hate NYC; NYC hates me, and it should. I took it for granted for so long, and now it’s done with me because I have become so unappreciative of its charms. Stay tuned, and I will tell the tale.</p><p>+++</p><p><strong>Buy My Book! • </strong><strong>The Apples In Stereo</strong> by <strong>Josh Bloom</strong> is available now from <strong>J-Card Press</strong></p><p>Choose your preferred bookseller: <a target="_blank" href="http://applesbook.com">http://applesbook.com</a>.</p><p>Hear me interviewed about the book on <strong>The Music Book Podcast</strong> with <strong>Marc Masters</strong> <a target="_blank" href="https://pod.link/1670203275/episode/QnV6enNwcm91dC0xODM5MTQzMA?view=apps&#38;sort=popularity">here</a><strong>,</strong> <strong>NPR</strong>-member station <strong>KMUW</strong>’s <strong>Into Music</strong> podcast with <strong>Jedd Beaudoin</strong> <a target="_blank" href="https://pod.link/1728726597/episode/MDAwMDAxOWEtZmZjNy1kNjEwLWE5ZmUtZmZkNzg5OWUwMDAw?view=apps&#38;sort=popularity">here</a> and the <strong>Don’t Bother Wearing Seatbelts</strong> podcast with <strong>Mathew Bell</strong> <a target="_blank" href="https://pod.link/1840935867/episode/NjlkNWRkYTYtYzA4ZC00YzdlLThiOTAtNTQxMTBkZmNmNWI4?view=apps&#38;sort=popularity">here</a>.</p><p>+++</p><p><strong>Come With Me To See! • Spike Lee</strong>’s<strong> </strong><strong>Highest 2 Lowest</strong> (and unintentionally) <strong>Akira Kurosawa</strong>’s <strong>High and Low</strong></p><p>Watch at YouTube: <a target="_blank" href="https://youtu.be/hOqA_etIGhE">https://youtu.be/hOqA_etIGhE</a></p><p>+++</p><p>Follow <strong>The Josh Bloom Podcast </strong>on <a target="_blank" href="https://open.spotify.com/show/6zxCGBsvP95awY0gdzmHhw"><strong>Spotify</strong></a>, <a target="_blank" href="https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/josh-bloom/id1775967463"><strong>Apple Podcasts</strong></a>, or <a target="_blank" href="https://pod.link/1775967463">your preferred podcast app</a>!</p><p>Follow the <strong>1461 Days of Ignoring with Josh Bloom</strong> podcast<strong> </strong>— a weekly compilation of my daily posts — on <a target="_blank" href="https://open.spotify.com/show/6UI9cUaocLOBhZUND1dvPz"><strong>Spotify</strong></a>, <a target="_blank" href="https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/1461-days-of-ignoring-with-josh-bloom/id1866233663"><strong>Apple Podcasts</strong></a>, or <a target="_blank" href="https://pod.link/1866233663">your preferred podcast app</a>!</p><p>+++</p><p>If you enjoy my work and want to support me, please consider a <strong>Substack</strong> <a target="_blank" href="https://superjews.substack.com/subscribe">subscription</a>, or you can <a target="_blank" href="https://buymeacoffee.com/joshbloom"><strong>Buy Me A Coffee</strong></a>!</p><p>+++</p><p><strong>Let's connect!</strong> Visit me everywhere for everything at <a target="_blank" href="http://www.superjews.com">superjews.com</a> or <a target="_blank" href="http://iamjoshbloom.com">iamjoshbloom.com</a>.</p><p>+++</p><p><strong>More about Josh:</strong></p><p>I published my first newsletter <strong>before the age of ten</strong>, written using my next-door neighbor’s typewriter, copied with carbon paper, and <strong>distributed to mailboxes on my bicycle</strong>.</p><p>One of my first stories was the obituary of <strong>John Belushi</strong>.
