Richard Willy - Runner's Knee
<p>Randall Cooper is joined by Richard Willy to discuss 'runner's knee', also known as 'knee cap pain' and 'patellofemoral pain'.</p> <p>Richard is an Associate Professor in the School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science, University of Montana (Missoula, MT, USA). He received his PhD in Biomechanics and Movement Science from the University of Delaware. Richard has been a clinician for over 20 years with expertise in treating runners of all ages and ability levels.</p> <p>His research aims to develop clinically effective treatments for persons with patellofemoral pain, Achilles tendon injuries, and bone stress injuries. He has publishes over 50 peer-reviewed papers on two populations: endurance runners and tactical athletes such as Soldiers. Dr Alannah McKay - Are you an Elite Athlete?
<p>Randall Cooper is joined by Dr Alannah McKay to discuss a new classification framework for athletes.</p> <p>Alannah completed a Bachelor of Science in Exercise, Health and Sports Science at the University of Western Australia in 2014 and went onto complete a post-graduate position within the Physiology department at the Australian Institute of Sport. Since then, Alannah has submitted her PhD titled "The Effect of Dietary Manipulation on Iron Metabolism and the Immune System in Elite Athletes", which was undertaken in partnership with the Australian Institute of Sport, Western Australian Institute of Sport and the University of Western Australia. </p> <p>Alannah joined Australian Catholic University as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in 2020. <p>Randall Cooper is joined by Luke Nelson to discuss optimising training loads in running.</p> <p>Luke is a titled Sports & Exercise Chiropractor, who has worked in private practice in Melbourne for 17 years. He has presented widely across Australia & Internationally on various sport injury related topics, primarily focusing on running.</p> <p>A keen fitness enthusiast himself, Luke's current number one love is running, completing 5 marathons, an ultra-marathon and 2 Iron Man triathlons.
