Episode 66 - All We Like Sheep Have Gone Astray
Hello and welcome to the Journey Begun in Scripture podcast! I am your host, Theodore Jander. To begin this episode, “All We Like Sheep Have Gone Astray,” I share a few different Scripture verses, all of which come from the Scripture passage my dad reflects on: First, from John 10:1-10 - “Truly, Truly, I say unto you, whoever enters not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbs in by some other way, they are a thief and a robber: but he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the doorkeeper opens. The sheep hear his voice, and calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. And when he has brought out all his own sheep, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. They will not follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they know not the voice of strangers.” Jesus used this figure of speech with them, but they did not understand what he spoke to them. Then Jesus again said unto them, “Truly, Truly, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. I am the door. If anyone enters in by me, they shall be saved, and will go in and out and will find pasture. The thief comes to steal, to kill, and to destroy: I come that they may have life, and that they may have it abundantly.” Next, from Isaiah 53:6 - All we like sheep have gone astray. Everyone has turned in their own way, and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. And lastly, from Matthew 9:36 - When [Jesus] saw the crowds, he was moved with compassion for them because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.
