27. Leyton’s Journey: Embracing authenticity

Hi I'm Krutika, and today's conversation is with Leyton.

He's an independent actor, singer, songwriter and entrepreneur - he's chosen to pave his own path in an industry he describes in his own words as fraught with injustice's, manipulative and at times sinister.

Now it's not often that I get to meet someone who has such a clearly defined vision and mission for their purpose in this world.

He speaks with a level of self-awareness and wisdom that is in part a consequence of personal experiences of racism, bullying and heartaches. Instead of choosing to use these encounters as justification for anger and frustration, he's channelled this is positive ways, choosing love and compassion.

In a world where fame and followers are often the metric for success, Leyton is moving against the tide opting for authenticity and sharing messages he's passionate about regardless of popularity.

Chapters

(00:00) Introductions

(01:56) The journey of an Independent Artist

(04:04) The importance of authenticity

(14:01) Navigating relationships and emotional health

(22:13) Sowing seeds of truth

(24:57) The journey of self-discovery

(29:11) Discussing “Where are the Children”

(37:18) Moving in silence for impact

(40:44) Conclusion

Connect with Leyton

Website: https://www.leytonbenta.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/leytonbenta_legacy/ We are the children short film link: https://www.leytonbenta.com/wherearethechildren

Connect with me:

Linktree: https://linktr.ee/journeyswithkrutika If you have a journey you'd like to share I'd love to hear from you, email me at journeyswithkrutika@gmail.com

26. Navin’s journey: A spiritual odessey

Hi, I’m Krutika, and today conversation is with Navin.

I’m not particularly religious or spiritual myself, but I’ve always been fascinated by people who feel a deep devotion to something bigger than themselves.

Navin is one of those people. He’s undertaken several pilgrimages, but one in particular, his visit to Mount Kailash in Tibet, is a testament to his physical endurance, mental resilience, and ability to withstand extreme conditions, all in pursuit to a higher connection with God.

And he hasn’t just done it once, he’s done it twice, within the last five to six years.

We all search for peace in different ways. But there’s often a common thread, reconnecting with the basics. It’s rarely materialistic. For Navin, that sense of solace has come through his spiritual adventures, and I’m truly in awe of what he’s been able to accomplish.

Chapters

(00:00) Introduction

(02:31) Spirituality and Religion in Navin's Life

(07:17) Preparing for the Pilgrimage

(10:41) The Journey to Kailash

(23:33) Reaching Kailash

(37:12) Challenges of the Kailash Trek

(42:10) Advice for Future Pilgrims

(47:07) Personal Transformations Through Pilgrimage

(50:16) Lessons Learned and Future Journeys

(53:28) Conclusion

Connect with me:

Linktree: https://linktr.ee/journeyswithkrutika

If you have a journey you'd like to share I'd love to hear from you, email me at journeyswithkrutika@gmail.com

25. Preeti's Journey: The impact of the Pandemic

Hi I'm Krutika and today's conversation is with Preeti.

Preeti and I connected because of our shared love for Podcasting. She's the host of a podcast called It's Preeti Personal, a really clever play on her moniker which is aimed at having open and authentic conversations on topics through the lens of being south Asian. This passion project came about during the pandemic and let's face it, the pandemic was an interesting time for all of us!

Covid and the lockdowns affected everyone in so many different ways, I'm sure the ramifications are going to be felt for decades to come. And whilst each generation faced their own set of silent struggles… this conversation conveys one individuals experience of being a 20 something year old missing out of all the things that we so easily take for granted.

From missed socials, working dynamics, mental health and the impact on relationships. This conversation is open, honest and pretty personal.

Chapters

(00:00) Introductions

(07:23) Life Before COVID

(14:24) The Impact of COVID

(17:59) Navigating mental health during a Pandemic

(21:57) Navigating career changes during COVID

(28:20) The impact of COVID on relationships

(41:36) Embracing New Beginnings and Opportunities

(45:45) Conclusion

Connect with me:

Linktree: https://linktr.ee/journeyswithkrutika

If you have a journey you'd like to share I'd love to hear from you, email me at journeyswithkrutika@gmail.com
