Our culture conditions us to believe that we have to choose between work and family, between time with our kids and time for ourselves.
We set these unrealistic expectations that we need to have a Pinterest worthy home, be fully present with our kids at all times, climb the ladder to success while also making an impact… and do it all with grace. We put pressure on ourselves to be present everywhere at all times all while holding the weight of the world on our shoulders.
Mother Teresa tells us that in order to change the world, we must first go home and love our families.
But somewhere along the way the noise of hustle culture took over. We started listening to the noise of "shoulds" and "have-tos" and ignoring our own intuitive needs. We took her words to mean that we should give and give and give and give without carving any purposeful time to tend to our own souls.
