How I (almost) Cured my Phone Addiction in 4 Weeks! Caro x Julian #014

The last week of the experiment.

Learnings, takeaways, and the start of a long journey!

So what happened was that I came into this experiment with the hope of reducing my screen time (aka. Less Distraction) and having more time for Traction. I just wanted to live a life I decide on and not Big Tech (It sounds a bit crazy but that’s how it felt)

For me, the most important tool during the experiment was to write down the Intention of why I wanted to use my device. Soooo many times I noticed I just wanted to use my phone because I felt bad. That made me so aware of all the causes and stop right there before I even start getting lost. 🎉

But it’s not over yet. In the last couple of days, it got a little bit out of hand again because I was travelling again and didn’t have my notebook handy anymore. So I learned how fragile my freshly won autonomy is. One day and it can snap back. That means there is way more to uncover than previously thought.

Probably the thing I learned most was that this topic is waaaay deeper than initially thought. Thanks to that little outbreak at the end again I feel even more inclined to go even deeper. I don’t just feel that it is a topic for here and now and just myself but rather a topic for the future and almost everyone.

It will become even more important to be able to concentrate and know how to deal with the increasing technology in our lives. Therefore I want to make it my dedication to learn more about it from different angles. Talk to psychologists who know more about the effects of technology in our lives, engineers who build these technologies and what they have in mind, and lastly create a vision to live more intentionally with and without technology!

I NEED YOUR HELP!

If you know someone that is knowledgeable about these topics let me know so I create a knowledge base and useful tips on how to conquer these things in today’s world.

You can either connect with me through email: Julianmerten.coaching@gmail.com

Or via telegram at: https://t.me/julian_merten

Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/jmp/donations

Hosted on Acast. We All Want to Escape Discomfort x Caro & Julian #012

My self-experiment to gain control of my time back from Big Tech.

A thing that became really obvious last week because I just wanted to reduce strong emotions. I found out that's the most intense trigger I have.

More details about that and how others escape those strong emotions through emotional eating.

The detailed blog about this episode with screen time stats is at JulianMerten.com

Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/jmp/donations

Hosted on Acast.
