Just A Number Show

About Just A Number Show

You know more than you think you do. Just a Number is for women over 40 who’ve spent years learning, working, solving problems, figuring things out, and picking up skills they may not even realize are valuable. This show is about what happens when you stop brushing all of that off and start asking, “Could I actually do something with this?” Hosted by Trish from TLC Creative, each episode gets into the real stuff: ideas, confidence, money, tech, getting seen, second-guessing yourself, and figuring out how to turn what you know into something useful and profitable. Maybe that looks like a course, coaching, a workshop, a service, or a simple digital product. Maybe it’s just a little extra money. Maybe it turns into something much bigger. Either way, you don’t need a 47-step funnel, another certification, or permission from anyone to get started. Expect honest solo episodes, practical breakdowns, and conversations with women who decided to stop waiting and try something. No hustle worship. No fake urgency. No pretending you should’ve started ten years ago. You’re not behind. You’re under-packaged. New episodes weekly. Learn more at TLC Creative (https://tlc-creative.com).

6 Things AI Is Actually Good For (Real Examples You Can Use This Week)

A lot of you are already using AI without realizing it, the chat box on a website, the summary at the top of a Google search. It’s already part of your day. This week Trish breaks down what it’s actually good for beyond that, with real examples you can use starting today. This isn’t a hype episode and it isn’t a scare episode. It’s a practical rundown: six things AI genuinely helps with, and exactly how to use it for each one. Inside the episode: Let it interview you — how to use it to think through a decision you’ve been stuck on, by asking it to ask you questions instead of the other way around Brainstorming — gift ideas, wording something awkward to say to someone, weighing two choices you can’t decide between Research — getting oriented on a diagnosis, a big purchase, or a contract term before you dig in further or talk to a professional Writing — tough emails, newsletters, and the resume and cover letter tips from last week’s episode taken a step further Planning and organizing — meal planning, trip itineraries, and breaking a messy project into an actual checklist Learning something new — getting anything explained to you from zero, or getting the short version of something long before deciding if it’s worth reading How to actually get started — the two-minute setup, and one thing to try today Your reminder today: “You don’t need to love this stuff or understand how it works behind the scenes. You just need to know what to actually do with it.” Resources & Links Listen to Episode 31 — Can’t Get Hired After 40? Can't Get Hired After 40? What Actually Works Right Now

Season two starts with the thing almost nobody wants to say out loud: you can be qualified, you can do everything right, and you can still get passed over for someone younger, or hear nothing back at all. Trish opens season two by naming what's actually happening right now, not with vague reassurance, but with real numbers and two live court cases that prove the silence isn't always in your head. Then she gets into what to actually do about it, both inside the traditional job search and outside of it, with specific, feasible ways to bring in income that don't run through a resume portal at all. This episode isn't about convincing yourself to believe harder. It's about understanding why the deal changed, and what you can actually do with the experience you already have, no matter what kind of work that experience came from. Inside the episode: The real numbers: job searches now average almost 20 weeks for ages 45 to 54, over 33 weeks for 55 to 64, and over 36 weeks for 65 and up, nearly double what younger job seekers face More than half of workers 50 and older go through a layoff, get overlooked for a promotion, or get pushed out before they ever choose to retire, and most never get back to their previous pay Two live legal cases: the collective action against Workday's hiring software, and the $365,000 iTutorGroup settlement over software that auto-rejected women 55-plus and men 60-plus Why "update your resume" isn't always the fix, sometimes the resume was never read by a human at all Calling out the reinvention industry that sells a fantasy version of building something of your own, without acknowledging what you're actually dealing with while you're doing it What's actually working in your favor: tenacity, work ethic, and a BS detector decades in the making Concrete resume and job search moves, including removing dates, leading with recent experience, and applying directly on company sites instead of through job boards Ways to make money that don't run through a resume at all, built for different backgrounds: factory and manufacturing experience, retail experience, stay-at-home parents needing income now, and corporate or office backgrounds Your reminder today: Whatever generation's promise you were handed, it didn't pay out the way you were told, and that's not a personal failing. You don't have to choose between the job search and building something of your own. You can do both at the same time, and right now, that's exactly what it takes. How to Start a Digital Product With No Money, Just Time

Thirty episodes ago, Trish hit record for the first time with no idea if anyone would listen. In this season finale, she's closing things out, not with a full recap, but with what actually stuck. It starts with a DM. A listener responded to Episode 21 with one line that Trish has read over and over since: she put in words something the listener could never describe, and did it in one sentence. That's the moment Trish comes back to when she thinks about why this show exists. From there, Trish turns to something she can't stop seeing online: women facing ageism, getting pushed out of jobs, and feeling like there's nowhere left to go, then getting told to "just start something," as if that means finding forty thousand dollars and writing a business plan overnight. It doesn't. Trish makes the case that the real cost of starting is time, not a big pile of money, and that starting small isn't the consolation prize, it's the smart move. Then a personal reflection on what this season actually turned into, and a first look at what's coming in Season 2, including the first confirmed guest. Inside the episode: The DM that stuck: a listener's response to Episode 21, and why that single message means more to Trish than any download count or dashboard number The real cost of starting: why ageism, job loss, and "just start your own thing" advice keep colliding, and what starting small actually requires (an afternoon, not a fortune) Spending money isn't the mistake: the real mistake is spending it before you know if an idea has any traction What this season turned into: a personal reflection on the difference between the polished episodes and the honest ones, and which ones actually landed What's next: a first look at Season 2, including guest interviews starting with Courtney, founder of Mother Source Your reminder today: Starting doesn't require the thing you think it requires. You don't need permission, and you don't need a pile of capital sitting around before you take the first step. You need an afternoon and the willingness to start messy.
