This podcast is for every woman who needs someone who actually understands, not just sympathizes. If you've ever felt completely alone in your pain, whether that's grief, a miscarriage, a neonatal loss, the anxiety of a pregnancy after loss, or just the loneliness of going through something nobody talks about, you're in the right place.
I've been through a lot of different types of pain in my own life. That's why I'm here, to hold space for you and make sure you know you're not alone.
You found this for a reason. And I've got you.
One in four pregnancies ends in miscarriage. That statistic never made me feel less alone. It just made me feel like a number.
This is the Season 1 finale, and it's where I tell you the full story of how Not A Statistic, Miscarriage and Pregnancy After Loss Support came to be. The pamphlet I saw in shul during my pregnancy after loss that I couldn't stop thinking about. The idea that started small and grew into something I couldn't not do. The speech I gave to my community, terrified, to launch it officially. And why I named it what I named it.
What actually helps isn't a statistic. It's a real person telling you they went through it too.
You are not a statistic. Your story is your own.
If you found this, it was for a reason. I'm here. And I've got you.

The Grief You Don't Think You're Allowed to Feel
Who gets to decide what counts as a loss worth grieving?
There's an invisible rulebook out there. Nobody wrote it down, but somehow everyone knows it. A best friend who's still alive and just isn't in your life anymore doesn't make the list. Someone you didn't know well enough doesn't make the list either.
In this episode I tell two stories that broke those rules for me. A childhood best friendship that faded in a way that left a real grief behind. And a man I knew only through someone else's family, who always had a smile and called me Bronx, and whose loss hit me harder than I felt I had the right to let it.
Grief doesn't check anyone's credentials before it shows up. Whatever you're carrying, however small you've been told it should feel, you're allowed to feel it as big as it actually is.
If you found this, it was for a reason. I'm here. And I've got you.

Sudden Loss, When There's No Time to Prepare
Every other episode this season has been my story. This one is different.
This episode is about a close friend of mine and what happened to her family. I'm not going to share details that would identify her. But what I watched her go through, and what it did to me, and what I learned from her, changed me.
Sudden loss is like a strike of lightning on a clear day. No lead up. No chance to brace. No time to say the thing you would have said if you'd known. And the grief doesn't stay contained to the people closest to it. It ripples. And sometimes those ripples hit you when you least expect them, months later, in a completely different place.
This one is for anyone who has lost someone suddenly. For the people closest to that loss, and for the ones a little further out who felt it just as deeply and weren't sure they were allowed to.
If you found this, it was for a reason. I'm here. And I've got you.

When a Child Gets Sick, Part 2; The Long Road With No End in Sight
Part 1 ended with a breath we could finally take. This one starts right after that breath, and keeps going.
This episode is being recorded from the middle of something that isn't over yet. Seven plus months in, still managing, still waiting, still not done. I take you through what the long stretch actually looks like. The pattern of up two weeks and down. The Shabbos morning he stood at the playground fence and cried because he couldn't go on. The Purim we dressed as the Zwiren Platelet Posse because at some point you either lean into it or it breaks you. And the outside perspective from a specialist in New York that changed how we looked at all of it.
This one is for every parent past the initial crisis but still in it. And for the friends who haven't forgotten.
If you found this, it was for a reason. I'm here. And I've got you.

When a Child Gets Sick, Part 1; The Fear Nobody Prepares You For
One Saturday morning I noticed bruises all over my son's legs. Not a few here and there. All over them. And I couldn't explain it.
In this episode I take you through the beginning of what became a seven plus month medical journey with my son. The fear that built with every new symptom. The waiting rooms and the blood work and the middle of the night ambulance transfer. And the four days we sat with the possibility that it could be something truly terrible, waiting for bone marrow results with nothing to do but pray.
This one is for every parent who has ever sat in a waiting room hoping and praying for good news. And for every friend on the outside who wanted to show up but didn't know how.
If you found this, it was for a reason. I'm here. And I've got you.

The Grief That Doesn't Have a Funeral
Nobody brings you casseroles for this kind of grief. There is no funeral. Sometimes there is not even a diagnosis yet.
In this episode I talk about what it feels like to watch your child suffer without answers. The fear that sits underneath everything when there is no ceiling on what it could be. The exhaustion of going from doctor to ER to doctor and still not knowing. And the moment I sat in a rocking chair in my in-laws' basement and fell apart, not knowing it was also the moment everything was about to turn.
This one is for every parent who has ever been in a waiting room praying for answers. And for every friend on the outside who wanted to show up but didn't know how.
If you found this, it was for a reason. I'm here. And I've got you.

My Mom's Miscarriage, Grief Through Two Generations
When I was in 7th grade my mom had a miscarriage. I carried guilt about one specific moment from that day for a very long time.
This episode is about what happens to the child in the house when a miscarriage occurs. The one who is old enough to understand but too young to know what to do with it. It is for parents, for teachers, for anyone who interacts with a child going through this. And it is for anyone who was once that child.
Nobody tells you that a child can grieve the loss of a sibling they never got to meet. This episode does.
If you found this, it was for a reason. I'm here. And I've got you.

A Note After Episode 3
Episode 3 was heavy. I know that. And after hearing some feedback from listeners, I wanted to come back and add something I didn't say. This one is short. Pregnancy After Loss, The Grief Nobody Expects You to Still Have
Nobody tells you that a miscarriage doesn't always end at the miscarriage. That when you're pregnant again it's not all smiles and sunshine. That the people around you will be happy and excited and you may not be able to match that at all.
In this episode I talk about what pregnancy after loss actually feels like from the inside. The anxiety that becomes physical. The hiding. The not being able to say the words out loud. And what it means to finally find someone who gets it because she's been there too.
If you've been there, or you're there right now, this one is for you.
If you found this, it was for a reason. I'm here. And I've got you.

What Nobody Tells You About Miscarriage
In this episode I talk about what nobody tells you about miscarriage. Not the medical facts. The real stuff. What it feels like to smile through it. What it feels like to lose a baby and then have the world keep moving around you like nothing happened.
If you've been there, this one is for you. And if someone you love has been there, this one is for you too.
If you found this, it was for a reason. I'm here. And I've got you.
