The Elephant In The Room

When I look at the history behind the Doctrine of Discovery, the Middle Passage, the Diaspora, Jim Crow, the KKK, and whatever has been thrown against Black People and People of Color...I realize STILL WE RISE. I realize that the HATE CAN ONLY BE ENDED, in my opinion, with Conversations about the Elephant in the room. Discussions Regarding The History Behind the HATE, Acknowledging a Divine Parent and accepting that WE MUST treat each other as we would be treated. This is the reason behind this podcast. I intend to put you to work. I'm going to force you to hit the books and study. I'm going to ask you to question a lot of what you think you know or have been taught. I'm going to ask you to THINK. I'm going to ask you to take what you learn here to the places where you worship (if you worship), to the places where you work, to your friends and your families. Heck, even to your associates and the folks you just party with. This is the ONLY way we can have the America we were taught existed when in reality it doesn't exist YET. BUT THE AMERICAN DREAM CAN EXIST, AND WILL EXIST, IF WE WORK AT IT. MAYBE NOT FOR ALL OF US, CONSIDERING OUR LIMITED TIME ON THIS EARTH, BUT IT WILL HAPPEN IF WE WORK TOGETHER TO REMOVE THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM.

Confident Hope

United States House of Representatives John Lewis stated: "Freedom is not a state; it is an

act. It is not some enchanted garden perched high on a distant plateau where we can finally

sit down and rest. Freedom is the continuous action we all must take, and each generation

must do its part to create an even more fair, more just society." This podcast will concentrate

on the two spiritual principles of Loving the Divine Parent and Treating our Neighbors as we

would be treated. We will commence a dialogue of Re-Education of American History and the

Intersection between this Re-Education and Faith Based Love.

I’ve been motivated to start this Podcast for 2 reasons.

1. The murder of George Floyd

2. A class I’m taking through the United Church of Christ called Conversations to End

Racism

I have come to realize just how much we as Americans have been deliberately

under-educated and with this podcast I intend to not only start conversations but a

re-education of “We the People” is what I intend for us as Americans. Some of the

conversations we will engage in:

– denial of systemic injustice

– disregard for the lived experience of black people

– silence in the pulpit

– a deeply ingrained superiority regarding issues of race

– a fixation on intentions over outcomes

I must make note that our discussions no matter how deep. No matter how intense it will

always be spiritually based. I myself am Chrtistian and many times I will use passages from

the Bible in our discussions. But this is and will be an open and inclusive podcast and so all

are welcome and other spiritual books and philosophers will be used to move our

conversations to making America a lot less fragile and a lot more based on our Constitutional

dream.
