We are joined by fellow Wattpad writer GotNoJams0613, who also shares some opinions on these pet peeves in question. Again, these are just our opinions on the topic and things we personally noticed so we ask that you take them with a grain of salt. Episode 7: Show, Don't Tell
Welcome to the K-Fic Cafe and our seventh episode of our podcast series. Today, we, JT and Jay, talk about an infamous writing technique of "Show, Don't Tell." We are sure you've heard of this before but what exactly does it mean? Well, don't worry we break it down and differentiate clearly between telling and showing, also offering ideas on how to balance between the two and when to use them in your stories. Again, these are just our opinions on the topic and things we personally noticed so we ask that you take them with a grain of salt. Please think about them and let it inspire some new ideas and feel free to share them in the comment below (or if you have any questions or confusions). If you have any discussion ideas or things you want us to address in future episodes, please let us know in the comments or email us at thekficcafe@gmail.com. We will include them if they are not already on our radar. We know some people already reached out to include other topics and ideas but we plan to get to most of them in the near future. Feel free to contact us if you have questions or anything, in general, you want to discuss privately or if you need any proofreading/editing/advice help. Episode 6: Plot
Welcome to the K-Fic Cafe and our sixth episode of our podcast series. Today, we, JT and Jay, talk about the long awaited topic of plot. We discuss what plot is and what makes it enjoyable. We break down the categories of plots and provide many examples along the way. Again, these are just our opinions on the topic and things we personally noticed so we ask that you take them with a grain of salt. Please think about them and let it inspire some new ideas and feel free to share them in the comment below (or if you have any questions or confusions). We also apologize in advance for this somewhat long podcast episode but we think there are so many things to discuss with each topic because it is so broad. So, sorry but not sorry. 😄 We are however working to reduce the length of these podcasts hopefully down to 30 minutes. Please bear with us. If you have any discussion ideas or things you want us to address in future episodes, please let us know in the comments or email us at thekficcafe@gmail.com. We will include them if they are not already on our radar. We know some people already reached out to include other topics and ideas but we plan to get to most of them in the near future. Episode 5: Growing Organic Characters
Welcome to the K-Fic Cafe and our fifth episode of our podcast series. Today, we, JT and Jay, talk about character development. We discuss how to grow your characters organically and what makes your readers enjoy the growth of the characters. We talk about methods to help understand your own characters better and how to show their development throughout the story, ending the podcast with a little exercise to flesh out a character from scratch (and then we eventually got sidetracked and ended up coming up with an awesome story idea with potential to be a hit on Wattpad in our opinions. If you're interested in writing this story, please let us know and we can tell you more ideas that we have with the concept). Again, these are just our opinions on the topic and things we personally noticed. Please consider them with a grain of salt. We hope you can think about them and let it inspire some new ideas and feel free to share them in the comment below (or if you have any questions or confusions). We also apologize in advance for the incredulous length of this podcast episode but we think we cover so many important topics and themes under "character development" that we thought we just had to share all of it with you. Sorry, but not sorry. 😄 If you have any discussion ideas or things you want us to address in future episodes, please let us know in the comments or email us at thekficcafe@gmail.com. We will include them if they are not already on our radar. We know some people already reached out to include other topics and ideas but we plan to get to most of them in the near future. Today, we talk about character design. We discuss how to design characters and what makes your readers enjoy your characters. Episode 2: Frequent Reading and Writing
Welcome to the K-Fic Cafe and our second episode of our podcast series. Today, JT and Jay talk about the importance of reading and writing as often as possible. We discuss how we achieve frequent reading and writing and how you can try to as well. As rising college sophomores, we understand if it seems that there is not enough time to do any of these. Nevertheless, we try to create ways to overcome that. Again, this is simply advice for you to consider. Meditate on them and let it foster inspiration for anything. If you have any discussion ideas or things you want us to address in future episodes, please let us know in the comments or email us at thekficcafe@gmail.com. We will include them if they are not already on our radar. We know some people already reached out to include other topics and ideas but we plan to get to most of them in the near future. Feel free to contact us if you have questions or anything in general you want to discuss privately. We are available with open arms almost 24/7. Episode 1: Introductions + Planning/Outlining
Welcome to the K-Fic Cafe and our very first podcast! Here, JT and Jamjoon (Jay) introduce themselves and their beginnings as they begin to step into the realm of writing and the many tips and advice they discovered along their way. There will be laughs, awkward technical difficulties, but we still hope you can listen along and enjoy it with us. Today, we will introduce ourselves and talk about how we started out writing and on Wattpad. After introductions, we discuss planning and outlining before writing a story. For some people, this may not fit your style and that is okay, but we feel that having a plan helps iron out some problems improvisational writers encounter when they write. Listen to some ideas that we churn up and meditate on it. Let it fester in your mind and foster inspiration for anything. If you have any discussion ideas or things you want us to address in the future, please let us know at thekficcafe@gmail.com and we will consider them if they are not already on our radar. We know that some people already reached on things they want to see and to be honest, we may have forgotten to do some of them. But don't fret, we will write them down for future reference and will try to remember them in future podcasts. Website: kficcafe.wixsite.com/kfic-cafe Email: thekficcafe@gmail.com
