011 - Checked In, Checked Out: Served with a Side of Audacity
The customer is always right. Yeah… we'd like to have a word about that. 💀🍽️ Welcome back to Checked In, Checked Out, where we're trading hotel complaints for restaurant disasters, and discovering that some people really should've just stayed home and made themselves a grilled cheese sandwich. This week, we're talking one-star reviews, five-star entitlement, and restaurant staff who have officially run out of patience. But first, we're putting our own dining behavior under the microscope with Complain or Shut Up? Overcooked steaks, hair in your food, influencers asking for freebies, and customers showing up five minutes before closing. Where do you draw the line between a legitimate complaint and being a full-blown Karen? And trust us, the stories only get worse. ☕ Five people. One coffee. A family walks into a Scottish café, orders a single coffee, takes up a table for five, and is outraged when the staff wants them to leave. There's also an ongoing battle over the bathroom. Because why wouldn't there be? 🍽️ The meal was disgusting… so why did you lick the plate? A customer demolishes an entire meal, demands a refund, and leaves a scathing one-star review. Unfortunately for them, the restaurant has CCTV. And they're not afraid to use it. ⏰ Four minutes to closing, and everyone's losing their minds. A customer demands service from a closed kitchen, insists on speaking to the manager, and leaves a nasty review. But the real villain might just be the restaurant owner who ordered the early closure in the first place. 📱 Five years of blogging and still can't pay for lunch? A food blogger requests a complimentary meal, gets publicly called out by the restaurant owner, and retaliates with a one-star review. One tiny problem: she's never actually eaten there. And because Steph loves a good game, we're wrapping things up with Would You Rather: Restaurant Hell. Hair in your food or a dead fly? Accidentally calling your waiter "Daddy" or letting one rip in a silent fine-dining restaurant? Terrible food with amazing service or amazing food with terrible service? The choices are awful. Our answers might be worse. 😂 Along the way, we're sharing a few hospitality horror stories of our own, debating whether influencers deserve free meals, and uncovering a very important fact about Steph: STEPH DOES NOT SHARE FOOD. 🍟 So grab your favorite cocktail, pull up a chair, and prepare to question humanity one restaurant review at a time. And to everyone working in hospitality: we see you, we appreciate you, and you deserve hazard pay. 🫶 🎙️ New episodes every week. 010 - The Chaos Drawer: Ten Down, Plenty of Chaos to Go
TEN EPISODES, BABYYYY! 🎉🎙️ 10 episodes. 1,000+ followers. And approximately 700 questionable life decisions that weren't even ours. We've miraculously made it to double digits, and to celebrate, we're opening The Chaos Drawer for a very special Episode 10! Because obviously, we couldn't just celebrate like normal people. We had to make absolutely everything about the number 10. 😂 First, we're taking a little trip back to 2016. Questionable fashion choices, questionable exes, the songs we had on repeat, and a few things we'd love to tell our younger selves. Spoiler alert: neither of us knew how to stop working. Then it's time for 10 Seconds to Judge, where we're making snap decisions on relationship red flags, questionable friendships, work wives, cheating partners and everything in between. No sitting on the fence. No overthinking. And choosing violence? A perfectly acceptable answer. And then, of course, there's the chaos. A woman asks her coworker for $10,000 to help an internet boyfriend she's never met, who conveniently works on an offshore oil rig. An employee pretends to love running to impress her boss, ends up running an entire 21km half marathon, and STILL doesn't get the promotion. And a man manages to juggle two girlfriends for almost two years, complete with matching messages, suspicious work trips and a romantic calendar that eventually comes crashing down. Somewhere in between, we're spilling a little too much during our 10-Minute Confessional, before putting each other through The Final 10: rapid-fire questions that reveal more about us than anyone needed to know. But beyond the stories, games and questionable opinions, this episode is also a little celebration of you. Whether you've been listening since Episode 1, shared our reels, sent us stories, or were personally bullied into following us by a friend or family member (you know who you are 👀), THANK YOU. What started as two friends with microphones has turned into something we genuinely love doing, and we couldn't be happier to have you along for the ride. Ten down. Plenty of chaos to go. 💕 🎙️ New episodes every week. Chapter Timestamps: 0:00 - We Made It to 10! 🎉 2:22 - Back to 2016: Ten Years, Many Memories 6:22 - 10 Seconds to Judge: No Sitting on the Fence 12:49 - 10/10 Money: The $10,000 Internet Boyfriend 🚩 19:21 - The 10-Minute Confessional: Things We Probably Shouldn't Admit 23:13 - 10/10 Work: 21KM and Still No Promotion 🏃♀️ 29:17 - The Final 10: No Filter, No Explanations 33:25 - 10/10 Love: Two Girlfriends, One Very Busy Calendar 💔 39:46 - Ten Down, Plenty of Chaos to Go 💕 📲 Follow Keeping It Real for clips, behind-the-scenes chaos and conversations that probably should've stayed in the group chat. 009 - The Corporate Survival Guide: Coworkers from Hell
Welcome back to The Corporate Survival Guide, where HR is exhausted, IT is traumatized, and your biggest workplace threat might just be the person sitting next to you. This week, we’re talking Coworkers from Hell. Not Susan who replies all. Not Kevin microwaving fish in the office kitchen. We’re talking about the coworkers who make you sit in your car before work and seriously ask yourself: “Do I really need money?” But first, HR is officially open for business with a game of Fire or Final Warning? Stealing someone’s lunch? Fired. Taking credit for someone else’s work? Fired. Microwaving fish in the office? According to Nessie, security escort. Apparently, job security is looking a little shaky today. 😂 And that’s only the warm-up. We’ve got an employee who accidentally shares some very questionable adult content during a client presentation and another who allegedly spends seven hours a day watching it on his company laptop. A jealous coworker who decides to resign on someone else’s behalf. An office lunch thief who discovers the hard way why you should never steal food from a chef who owns a hot sauce company. And a woman who fakes an entire pregnancy using an ultrasound she found on Google… only for everyone to later discover that the imaginary baby may not even be the wildest part of her story. Then there’s Eric: the coworker who somehow manages to look incredibly busy while accomplishing absolutely nothing, or as Steph calls it, BDN: Busy Doing Nothing. He takes credit for someone else’s work, throws them under the bus when things go wrong and then miraculously discovers how to do his own job once nobody is covering for him anymore. Funny how that works. And finally, we meet a brand-new employee who hears that the office provides free coffee and apparently interprets that as: take both giant bags of Starbucks beans home. She lasted one day. Grand theft latte. ☕️ Honestly, this episode taught us some very important corporate survival lessons: label your lunch, hide the coffee, lock your computer, never let anyone resign on your behalf, and if your coworker tells you their premature baby is arriving a month later… Just call HR. 🎙️ New episodes every week. Chapter Timestamps: 0:00 - Welcome to The Corporate Survival Guide: Coworkers from Hell 1:37 - Week’s Catch-up 4:35 - Fire or Final Warning? 6:54 - Coworker from Hell #1: Seven Hours of WHAT on the Company Laptop?! 16:38 - Coworker from Hell #2: He Resigned on My Behalf 28:36 - Coworker from Hell #3: The Lunch Thief & the Hot Sauce Revenge 40:49 - Coworker from Hell #4: She Downloaded Her Baby From Google 48:28 - Coworker from Hell #5: BDN — Busy Doing Nothing 55:15 - Coworker from Hell #6: Grand Theft Latte 1:02:54 - Corporate Survival Lessons: Hide Your Lunch, Coffee & Laptop Got a coworker from hell who belongs in The Corporate Survival Guide? 008 - The Reality Check: Cheaters, Liars & Trust Issues
Welcome to The Reality Check: Cheaters Edition… and fair warning, our faith in humanity is slightly lower than usual this week. 😂 Apparently, spending an entire episode talking about cheaters will do that to you. We’re talking secret phones, fake work trips, dating apps, suspicious “friends” and people who somehow think deleting a message means the evidence has disappeared. Because nothing says healthy relationship quite like screenshots, timestamps, hotel receipts and a secret WhatsApp account. But first, we’re playing Cheater or Innocent? Phone suddenly face down? Suspicious. New underwear? Apparently up for debate. Calling you crazy every time you ask a question? Babe… we have concerns. And with our trust issues officially activated, it’s time to get into this week’s stories. We’ve got a husband cheating while his wife is pregnant, TWICE, before declaring that “all men are like this.” A husband who calls his wife’s male best friend for marriage advice and accidentally starts a whole debate about emotional boundaries. A woman who catches her best friend of 35 years in bed with her husband… and responds by sleeping with her husband. And finally, one wife discovers her husband’s six-month affair and delivers the other husband an entire FBI evidence submission: messages, dates, hotel receipts and all. Honestly, we came into this episode with trust issues and somehow left with a restraining order against relationships. Because apparently some people have more commitment to their lies than they do to their partners. 🎙️ New episodes every week. Chapter Timestamps: 0:00 - Welcome to The Reality Check: Cheaters Edition 1:26 - Cheater or Innocent? 5:50 - Cheater #1: Pregnant, Cheated On… and “All Men Are Like This” 13:39 - Cheater #2: He Called His Wife’s Best Friend for Marriage Advice 19:15 - Cheater #3: My Best Friend Slept With My Husband… So I Slept With Hers 29:00 - Cheater #4: She Brought RECEIPTS - The FBI-Level Affair Exposure 41:14 - Final Verdicts: Our Faith in Relationships Has Left the Chat Got a relationship disaster that needs The Reality Check? 007 - Checked In, Checked Out: One-Star Reviews & Five-Star Audacity
Welcome back to Checked In, Checked Out… where five-star stays somehow turn into one-star reviews, hotel managers bring receipts, and apparently one extra egg can push a guest completely over the edge. This week, we're entering the world of hotel review warfare. But first, Nessie puts Steph's hospitality experience to the test with a game of Real Review or Complete Fiction? Bad weather? The hotel's fault. Terrible coffee at the gas station next door? Also the hotel's fault. Water being… too wet? You already know where this is going. Then we're diving into some truly wild one-star reviews. We've got a couple who paid for an exclusive club experience only to discover the club was basically… closed. A guest whose five-star breakfast experience was ruined by being charged for egg number three. A man ready to escalate to the General Manager because he had to take an elevator downstairs to collect his own pizza. And finally, a guest who trashed a hotel room, left behind broken furniture, blood and more than $1,000 in damages, then decided the real crime was the hotel's one suspicious cigarette butt. Some complaints? Completely justified. Others? Giving very strong “I want to speak to the manager” energy. And as two former hoteliers, naturally we have opinions. Because before you leave that one-star review, there's really only one question you need to ask yourself: Were you genuinely wronged… or are you just hungry? 🎙️ New episodes every week. Chapter Timestamps: 0:00 - Welcome Back to Checked In, Checked Out 1:43 - Real Review or Complete Fiction? 6:21 - One-Star Review #1: You Sold Me a Club Experience… Where’s the Club? 21:35 - One-Star Review #2: Egg-Gate — One Egg, Five Stars & A Lot of Audacity 32:38 - One-Star Review #3: I Had to Get My Own Pizza 44:02 - One-Star Review #4: Blood, Broken TVs & a Destroyed Hotel Room 57:52 - Final Verdicts: Guests vs. Hotels Got a hotel horror story, ridiculous review or hospitality confession that belongs on Checked In, Checked Out? 006 - The Reality Check: Bad Friends, Big Audacity & Zero Boundaries
Welcome to The Reality Check: Horrible Friends Edition… where the friendships are questionable, the group chats are dangerous, and apparently some people never learned the difference between a best friend and a personal assistant. This week, we are entering the friendship courtroom to decide when being a supportive bestie crosses the line into being completely taken advantage of. But first, we're putting our own friendship standards to the test with a round of Would You Rather: Friendship Edition. From brutally honest friends and chronic cancellers to dating your ex, stealing your personality and the friendship red flags we simply can't forgive. We also give ourselves some very official new titles within the extremely lean Keeping It Real team. Apparently, we're not just podcast hosts anymore, we're now C-suite executives. LinkedIn updates pending. Then Reddit enters the chat. We've got a destination bride who sends her guests an $800 bill, a best friend who refuses to attend a sleepover without her boyfriend, a Bali vacation that somehow turns into an argument about drinking, babysitting and being a "girls' girl", and a childhood friend who casually charges $500 of birthday catering to someone else's credit card. Because there's supporting your friends… and then there's apparently financing their entire lifestyle. 🎙️ New episodes every week. 005 - The Corporate Survival Guide: Horrible Bosses & Corporate Chaos
Welcome back to the corporate battlefield; because this week, we're talking horrible bosses. The micromanagers. The power-trippers. The policy-obsessed. The ones who somehow made it into management without ever learning how to actually manage people. And, of course, the ones who say “we're a family here” right before ruining your entire week. Steph and Nessie start by asking the dangerous question: were we ever the horrible boss? Then we're getting into our own experiences with micromanagement, questionable leadership and the workplace boundaries we're still learning how to set. And then Reddit enters the chat. From a hotel manager who demanded control over every single decision, only for his team to give him exactly what he asked for, to an office that brought itself to a standstill by following outdated policies to the letter, this week is basically a masterclass in malicious compliance. We also meet the boss who pushed one employee to quit on the spot during a family emergency, and the former employee who went through an entire interview process purely to deliver one beautifully petty rejection. Because sometimes the best way to deal with a horrible boss isn't to argue. It's to do exactly what they asked. 🎙️ New episodes every week. Chapter Timestamps: 0:00 - Welcome to the Corporate Battlefield 1:00 - Are We Horrible Bosses? 7:44 - What Would You Do If Your Boss Said…? 15:00 - Weaponized Compliance: You Wanted Control, You Got It 23:33 - Follow the Policy? 004 - The Reality Check: Love, Lies & Relationship Drama
Welcome to The Reality Check… where friendship drama, relationship dilemmas, questionable decisions and moral grey areas get put up for debate. This week, Reddit has us seriously concerned about relationships. We're talking cheating partners and surprise babies, a mother-in-law who committed an unforgivable crime against LEGO, an anniversary trip that somehow became a group holiday, and a boyfriend who's only a dog dad when it's convenient. And just when we thought we'd seen enough red flags, one badly worded comment about an ex somehow threatens an entire marriage. As always, we're reading the stories, debating who's actually in the wrong, and giving our completely unsolicited and probably too-honest opinions. Because sometimes you don't need relationship advice. You just need someone to tell you: be for flipping real. 🎙️ New episodes every week. Chapter Timestamps: 0:00 - Intro & Weekly Catch-Up 4:10 - The sidepiece who showed up at the front door… with his baby 16:10 - The mother-in-law who smashed months of LEGO building in one night 30:00 - The anniversary trip he turned into a group holiday… without telling his wife 39:07 - Being a dog parent only when it's convenient 46:51 - Breaking up with my ex was one of my biggest regrets Got a story that needs The Reality Check? 003 - The Corporate Survival Guide: Work Drama & Weaponized Incompetence
Welcome to The Corporate Survival Guide, where we solve workplace problems with absolutely no HR approval. This week, we're heading to Reddit to unpack the kind of office drama that makes you question whether you're a team player or just doing everyone else's job. We're talking weaponized incompetence, co-workers who use you as human Google, bosses who think planned time off means available on WhatsApp, and what happens when the person replacing you still expects you to do the job you already left. Plus, Steph and Nessie share a few corporate horror stories of their own, from bad hires and late-night deadlines to replacements who couldn't quite replace them. Because sometimes the problem isn't that you're bad at your job. It's that you're too good at it, and everyone knows it. 🎙️ New episodes every week. 002 - Checked In, Checked Out: We Need to Talk About Your Review
The guest is always right… right? 👀Except when they’re not. This week, we're officially checking in to one of our favourite Keeping It Real segments: Checked In, Checked Out, where we unpack one-star reviews, ridiculous guest complaints, hospitality disasters and the stories that make you wonder what actually happened. Armed with years of hospitality experience and absolutely no shortage of opinions, we're looking at both sides of the front desk. From a wedding site inspection that took an unexpected turn, to some very questionable accusations, disputed charges, over-capacity chaos, VIP demands in fully booked hotels, and the fine line between a complimentary upgrade and an expectation… there’s a lot to unpack and not all of it adds up. Was the service actually terrible? Was the guest completely justified? Or is someone just mad they didn't get their way? We're reading the reviews. We're hearing both sides. And yes… we're judging. Welcome to Checked In, Checked Out. And remember: if you've ever worked in hospitality, or have a review you think we NEED to unpack, we want to hear it. 🎙️ New episodes every week. 001 - So… We Started a Podcast
Well... we actually did it. Welcome to Keeping It Real: the podcast where two friends overshare, argue, laugh way too much, and somehow end up recording it for the internet. In our very first episode, we're introducing ourselves, explaining how this whole podcast happened (spoiler: there may have been a little coercion), and giving you a taste of the completely unfiltered conversations you can expect every week. From outrageous nights out and hospitality horror stories to relationship dilemmas, flying private, airplane etiquette, and our first round of This or That, nothing is off-limits. If you've ever thought, "Did they really just say that?" ...you're in the right place. 🎙️ New episodes every week.
