About Kelly Investigates Series: The Courtroom That Took Everything
A U.S. journalist and foreign investor exposes the courtroom that took everything.
From illegal property seizures to judicial harassment of a U.S. citizen, the Podcast series The Courtroom That Took Everything uncovers the dark reality behind one local court in Shenyang, China.
Hosted by Kelly Investigates, this podcast reveals the real voices, threats, court documents, and financial chains that connect corrupt judicial enforcement to high-interest lenders — and the international silence surrounding it.
This is a true story. And it’s still happening.
One year after entering a courthouse in Shenyang, Kelly reflects on what happened next, the complaint that came full circle, and why the story is far from over.
Some developments are public. Others are not.
For now, some chapters remain untold.

Episode 8: The System Behind Him
A courthouse visit.
A shouting judge.
And the moment the system revealed itself.
On May 13, 2025, I walked into the Dadong District Court in Shenyang expecting a routine answer about my father’s case. Instead, I encountered a judge who screamed at me, threatened my family’s school, and insisted that we would spend our entire lives “paying off a debt” that wasn’t even real.
This episode uncovers:
My first confrontation with Judge Wang Jianping
How his behavior shifted the moment I mentioned my U.S. journalism background
The “never-ending interest” calculation that revealed the lender–court alignment
The blank statement he instructed me to sign
How our U.S. family investment became a target
And the first signs of a coordinated structure operating behind him
I didn’t know it then, but this meeting was the beginning of everything that followed — the intimidation, the coercion, the detention, the deleted evidence, and the chain of events that would eventually reach international and diplomatic levels.
This was the moment the mask slipped.
Next episode:
The threats begin, the shouting becomes real, and I realize I need to start recording everything.

Episode 7: — THE MIDDLEMAN: When Your Lawyer Is Part of the System
On June 10th, 2025, I walked into the Dadong District Court in Shenyang expecting to review my case file.
Instead, I was pulled into a system I never imagined — a system where the judge, the “lawyer,” and the courthouse staff all seemed to operate as one coordinated machine.
In this episode, you’ll hear:
Judge Zhang Tianyi shouting, threatening detention, and demanding I “report all my assets.”
His mocking response when I said I had gone to the U.S. Consulate: “You can call the UN if you want.”
The moment I realized the lawyer sent to “help me” wasn’t there to defend me — he was there to pressure me to pay.
How the courthouse became a pressure chamber designed to break people down, not uphold the law.
And the turning point: witnessing Judge Wang Jianping yelling at an elderly woman in the hallway…
A moment that made everything suddenly clear — this wasn’t an exception.
This was the routine.
For the first time, I understood that what happened in that courthouse did not represent China’s legal principles, but rather a local execution system drifting far outside normal procedure.
This episode contains original audio recordings from inside the Dadong District Court.

Episode 5: You Tried to Bury the Story. I Buried Microphones.
My evidence is now in the hands of Washington. And the international press.
They tried to silence a U.S. journalist. Instead, she hit record.
In this episode of Kelly Investigates, Kelly Shofner tells the story of how a courthouse visit turned into a state-level cover-up, a legal ambush, and a foreign asset grab. This is the tape they never wanted released.
They told me to delete the evidence. I hit record instead.
This is not just a personal case. It's a global test of transparency, abuse of power, and whether justice can still be heard through a microphone.

Episode 4: Delete the Evidence. Or Else.
On June 10th, 2025, I walked into the Dadong District Court in Shenyang as a U.S. journalist and US investor. I was there to request access to court records. Instead, I was surrounded by multiple court officers, forced to delete recordings, denied access to legal transcripts, and ordered to provide a Chinese address — even after I clearly stated I was a U.S. citizen and had contacted the American Consulate.
One officer, Guo Honghai, grabbed my phone and attempted to unlock it using facial recognition. When I refused to sign a transcript I had never seen, I was told: “You didn’t sign it, so you don’t get a copy.”
This episode contains real courtroom audio recorded inside the Dadong District Court. It reveals not only an abuse of power, but a complete breakdown of due process — and a deliberate disregard for international legal standards.

Episode 3: They Called It Justice. It Was a Trap.
You’ve heard the threats. You’ve heard the recording. But you haven’t heard the names… until now.
Zibo Yong—he's not in the courtroom. But his name is everywhere. Loan shark. Property predator. His hands never show—but his money does.
They want our school. They want my family to disappear. But I still have the mic.
This is Kelly Investigates. And now, the gloves come off.

Episode 2: Trapped Inside the Courthouse
In this episode, American journalist Kelly Shofner recounts a harrowing encounter at the Dadong District Court in Shenyang, China.
