In need of some Christmas cheer? Have no fear, Kerri and Dan are here to be your guides through the wonderful world of holiday movies—from campy to classic and everything in between. This season, the duo counts down the 12 days of Christmas with new episodes every morning until Santa arrives! From A Princess for Christmas to A Diva’s Christmas Carol, and even some 2020 releases, there’s plenty to discover as Kerri and Dan (and some very special guests!) discuss what to watch during this special time of year.
Kerri and Dan spend their Christmas day season finale talking about the Oscar-nominated animated film Klaus. The movie mythologizes the origin of Santa by having him be a lonely toymaker who finds himself in cahoots with a postman delivering toys to the local kids of a town run by warring klans—and it totally works. Together, the duo discuss the gorgeous animation, their love for the Márgu, and their appreciation for essential workers.

In this Christmas Eve episode, the trio share their love for Jezebel the witch, the musical numbers, and the '80s magic of it all. *Special guest is The Gay Goods editor-in-chief Mark Peikert.

The Feliz NaviDAD That Wasn't
Kerri and Dan find a lump of coal in their stocking with Lifetime's Feliz NaviDAD, starring Mario Lopez and directed by Melissa Joan Hart. Everything about this movie should be right: a single dad (Lopez) tries to get on the dating scene again, the daughter is part of a hand bell/a capella group, and the family gets to show off its Latinx heritage. Plus, Mario Lopez moonlights as a package delivery man and MJH even makes a cameo! Together, the duo try to comprehend what went wrong.

Finding a Holidate for All Seasons
Kerri and Dan explore the world of Netflix's Holidate, starring Emma Roberts and Luke Bracey. As we learn in the film, a "holidate" is someone you bring to family functions to avoid questions about being single that you are not actually romantically involved with. Seems simple enough, but what happens when you start to actually have feelings?! Together with special guest Megan Harley (Kerri's girlfriend!), the duo deep dive on Kristin Chenoweth's hilarious performance, the lead couple's realistic personalities, and what holiday they hope gets the Christmas movie treatment next.

A Princess For Christmas Goes Beyond the Holidays
Kerri and Dan talk about the movie that just may have started it all, A Princess for Christmas. In this episode, Kerri and Dan discuss this movie's year-round appeal, castle shenanigans, and ...Roger Moore?!

A Diva's Christmas Carol: 2000 Personified
Kerri and Dan talk about one of Dan's favorites, A Diva's Christmas Carol, starring the indomitable Vanessa Williams. The contemporary take on Dickens' holiday tale offers a slew of hits ("Heartquake," anyone?) that should be on anyone's Christmas playlist, a Ghost of Christmas Past played by Kathy Griffin, and a Marley played by TLC's Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas. In this episode, the pair discuss whether anyone could possibly top Williams' performance as Scrooge, what placing the story through the lens of the music business adds to the story, and the somewhat questionable CGI choices.

The Princess Switch: Switched Again?!?
On the second episode of Kerri & Dan Save Christmas, we watched Vanessa Hudgens wow us with not one, not two, but THREE different accents in The Princess Switch: Switched Again. We talk cheap wigs, The Christmas Prince crossovers, Montanaro's gulags and archaic attitudes towards women, this movie's seemingly bottomless costume budget, and much more.
We reference Jenny Nicholson's great video on why A Christmas Prince is set in a dystopia: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BsHT1fYouYU

Happiest Season—Or Is It?
Kerri and Dan explore the naughty and nice list of the 2020's most anticipated queer holiday rom-com: Happiest Season on Hulu. Starring a who's-who of Hollywood (Kristen Stewart, Mackenzie Davis, Aubrey Plaza, and Dan Levy, just to name a few), a storyline about a lesbian couple going home for the holidays, and some well-rounded supporting characters, the ingredients for success are here. But is Happiest Season a great addition to an expanding subgenre of queer holiday movies? Who did Abby deserve to end up with: Harper or Riley? Must all LGBTQ+ plots include some sort of trauma? Just how iconic is Jane? Find out in the premiere episode of this podcast!
