From stories of peoples past, current struggles, or what they do to enjoy life, we cover it all! Many podcasting experts advise to go after a niche market to grow but we find that approach to be too constraining. Charlie's Story: Navigating Life One Basket at a Time
On this episode, we’re delighted to have Charlie Newsome join us. Charlie shares his inspiring journey, overcoming significant challenges from a young age. Born with water on the brain, hearing and speech impairments, and a cleft palate, doctors initially predicted a life expectancy of only 7 to 15 years. Remarkably, at the age of 64 (when we recorded this episode), Charlie has defied the odds and achieved remarkable success.
Throughout our interview, we delve into Charlie’s passion for basketball, which captivated Utah Jazz players like Karl Malone. We also learn about his impressive collection of 315 special Olympics medals and his honor of carrying the 1984 Olympic torch for the Los Angeles Summer Games. Charlie’s story is a testament to the power of perseverance, determination, and an unwavering spirit, demonstrating that even the most daunting obstacles can be overcome with the right mindset.

Pacific Crest Trail
The Pacific Crest Trail or better known as the PCT is a 2,650 mile long trail that ranges from the sun-baked deserts in California to the high alpines of the Sierra Nevada. The trail starts at the US-Mexico border and ends at the US-Canada border. It's a trail that will test the endurance of both body and soul of those who chose to set foot on the trail for either a through hike or section hiking. Mandie joins us on this episode to discuss her attempt at a section hike which tested her limits and taught her lessons for a future adventure.
