About Khalid Latif
Imam Khalid Latif is a prominent American Muslim chaplain and interfaith leader. Born and raised in New Jersey, he attended New York University (NYU), where he earned a degree in Political Science and Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies. His journey into religious leadership began at NYU, where he became the first Muslim chaplain. Imam Latif is known for his commitment to fostering interfaith dialogue and understanding. In 2005, he was appointed the first Muslim chaplain at Princeton University, making him one of the youngest chaplains in the country. He later returned to NYU as the university’s full-time Muslim chaplain, a position he continues to hold. Under his leadership, the Islamic Center at NYU has grown into a vibrant community hub that serves the spiritual and social needs of Muslim students. Imam Latif has been instrumental in developing programs that promote social justice, community service, and interfaith cooperation. He is a co-founder of the NYU Of Many Institute for Multifaith Leadership, which aims to train students in interfaith leadership and conflict resolution. Imam Latif’s work extends beyond the university setting. He is a sought-after public speaker, addressing audiences on topics such as faith, spirituality, social justice, and interfaith dialogue. He has been featured in various media outlets for his efforts to promote peace and understanding among different religious communities.
