2. Laura Hernandez | Rising High (in Bogotá) and Civil Engineering
Currently a Staff Engineer and EIT at PBI Engineering, Laura Hernandez's dedication to her career and studies in college ran tandem with her love for the beautiful game. Choosing a rigorous and challenging major in college compared to her teammates in the NCAA Division-I soccer program at University of the Pacific proved useful as Laura utilized her child-like wonder for math and planning to obtain a Masters in Civil Engineering.
All the way from Bogota, Columbia, Laura recalls her trials and tribulations coming over to the U.S with her family, the opportunity to represent her country the U-17 Women's World Cup, and why she still loves (and currently) coaches youth soccer locally to this day.
Join us for another fun episode filled with stories of international travel and chasing goals, both on and off the pitch.
Keep on kicking and sipping y'all - cheers!

Kicks and Sips Trailer: Where Soccer and Fine Wine Intertwine
Come see what we are all about!
Hello, I am Elizabeth Hutchison, your host of Kicks and Sips, the official podcast. Currently I am a captain and player on the WPSL and USL-W women's soccer team California Storm and soccer's always been my life - until wine entered the picture. In 2019 after graduating from UC Irvine and playing Division-I soccer for five years, I interned at a winery in Sonoma Valley called Mayo Family Winery. I learned how to take care of a vineyard, work in a cellar, and also give tours and sell wine to guests. From there, I attended UC Davis and received a Masters of Science degree in Viticulture (the science of grape-growing) and Enology (the science of winemaking). I now live and work in Napa Valley for the Duckhorn Portfolio as a lab technician. My friends call me the wine scientist, and I am here to blend my two favorite loves in life together with this podcast.
Please enjoy these episodes as I interview friends and old teammates who have taken their passions and hard work off the pitch to a new career. We discuss inspiring career moves and soccer memories with those in the fields of medicine, engineering, coaching, law, and more.
Keep on kicking and sipping, and if you like what you hear please give us a follow! Episodes will be released weekly.
Cheers!
