Topic 1 - 1. THE NATURE OF INTERCESSION
THE NATURE OF INTERCESSION
1、Who is an intercessor?
22 To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some. 23 I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.
Ezekiel 3:15
15 I came to the exiles who lived at Tel Aviv near the Kebar River. And there, where they were living, I sat among them for seven days—deeply distressed.
1). An intercessor is a priest.
You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign[b (https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Revelation%205&version=NIV#fen-NIV-30791b)] on the earth.”
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
a. The work of the priest is to carry the dirts of the people together with the sacrifice to the altar.
Hebrews 5:1
Every high priest is selected from among the people and is appointed to represent the people in matters related to God, to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins.
He is taken from men and appointed for men. A pastor must be a teaching intercessor ( priest ).

d. He shares the weakness , sin and pain of the people.

Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven,[f (https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Hebrews%204&version=NIV#fen-NIV-30029f)] Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess.

Joshua 6:12-16

Elijah took 12 stones (12 tribes of Israel)

23 Again the word of the Lord came to me: 24 “Son of man, say to the land, ‘You are a land that has not been cleansed or rained on in the day of wrath.’ 25 There is a conspiracy of her princes[b (https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ezekiel%2022&version=NIV#fen-NIV-21002b)] within her like a roaring lion tearing its prey; they devour people, take treasures and precious things and make many widows within her. 26 Her priests do violence to my law and profane my holy things; they do not distinguish between the holy and the common; they teach that there is no difference between the unclean and the clean; and they shut their eyes to the keeping of my Sabbaths, so that I am profaned among them. 27 Her officials within her are like wolves tearing their prey; they shed blood and kill people to make unjust gain. 28 Her prophets whitewash these deeds for them by false visions and lying divinations. They say, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says’—when the Lord has not spoken. 29 The people of the land practice extortion and commit robbery; they oppress the poor and needy and mistreat the foreigner, denying them justice.
30 “I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one. 31 So I will pour out my wrath on them and consume them with my fiery anger, bringing down on their own heads all they have done, declares the Sovereign Lord.”
