Our world promises blessing to those who stand with their head held high, living life their way. But the world can never give the true and lasting peace and joy that our souls long for.
Jesus promises blessing for those on their knees with their heads bowed low. Those who have nothing to give, who are grieved by their sin, who come to God gently and humbly, and who long for his righteousness. Though the world may deride and pity them, theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Introducing The Sermon On The Mount | Steve Morrison | Matthew 5:1-2
The Sermon on the Mount is probably the best-known part of Jesus’ teaching, yet, as John Stott observed, it may be “the least understood, and certainly the least obeyed.” In this series, we’ll sit at Jesus’ feet and discover his radical vision for the good life - a counter-cultural way of living that goes far deeper than outward behaviour and reaches into our hearts.
Jesus’ teaching is both beautiful and deeply challenging. It exposes us, but it also invites us into true flourishing as we build our lives on him. We’ll discover that Jesus doesn’t simply give us a new law to obey: he transforms us by his grace and the power of the Holy Spirit, enabling us to live as his people in a way that stands out in our city and beyond.

Give Away Offering | Steve Morrison | Acts 4:32-37
What happens when the gospel really gets hold of a community? In Acts 4, the early church is described as being “one in heart and mind”, sharing what they had so that no one was in need. Their generosity wasn’t driven by pressure or obligation but flowed from people who had been changed by the love and generosity of God. Barnabas gives us a beautiful picture of this - a man so secure in what he had received from God that he was able to give generously to others.
As followers of Jesus, we have received everything from him, and so generosity becomes part of our worship and our witness. We’ll explore what it means to be a radically generous people and consider how we can use what God has entrusted to us to bless others, strengthen the church and make the good news of Jesus visible in Birmingham and beyond.
