The speaker, Dr. Paul Welch, is addressing the congregation on New Year's Eve and deviating from the usual sermon topics. He talks about the importance of fearing God and how it is a sign of a healthy spiritual life. He also discusses why people should fear sin and the consequences of minimizing it. He then addresses the question of why a loving God would allow people to go to hell, stating that it is not God's desire for anyone to perish but to repent and receive eternal life. He emphasizes that it is easier to find salvation and follow Jesus than to go to hell, as God has placed many obstacles in the path to hell, such as churches and biblical sermons.
