   Jesus, The Ultimate Deliverer

What does it mean to truly be delivered? This message takes us on a journey through Scripture to explore the deep human longing for freedom, tracing a thread from the slavery of the Israelites in Egypt all the way to the cross of Jesus. We look at how Moses and Jesus, separated by centuries, share a remarkable mission: to lead God's people out of bondage and into a new way of living. Along the way, we discover that deliverance rarely looks the way we expect it to. Moses was an unlikely leader who struggled to speak, and Jesus came from a town with a poor reputation. Yet both changed the course of history. Romans 6 reminds us that we were once slaves to sin, but now we are free to be slaves of righteousness. That shift is not just theological, it is deeply personal. It speaks to the patterns we fall into, the habits we cannot shake, and the quiet hope that something greater can transform us from the inside out. If we have ever wondered whether God is working in the unexpected corners of our lives, this message invites us to keep our eyes open. Discussion questions: 1. Romans 6:16-18 presents the idea that we are always a slave to something, either sin or righteousness - what does it look like practically in your daily life to choose slavery to righteousness over slavery to sin? 2. Think of a time when God answered a prayer in a way you did not anticipate... what did that teach you about his character? 3. Tim describes Jesus as the one who settled our debt of sin past, present, and future - how does a deep understanding of that complete forgiveness change the way you approach God in your daily life?Watch at: https://youtu.be/qYGkcJpmzHg

   The True Human

What if the very first pages of the Bible were already pointing us toward Jesus? That is exactly the journey we begin in this first instalment of Seven Signposts, a series that traces the hidden road signs embedded throughout the Old Testament that point us forward to Christ. We start at the very beginning, with Adam, the first man, whose story is far more than a tale of failure. The Apostle Paul in Romans 5 calls Adam a 'type of the one who was to come,' meaning Adam functions as a signpost, not by similarity to Jesus, but by stunning contrast. - Where Adam disobeyed in a garden of abundance, Jesus remained obedient in a wilderness of deprivation.- Where Adam's sin unleashed death into the human story, Jesus' obedience opens the door to life.- And where Adam's rebellion caused humanity to hide from God in shame, Jesus makes reconciliation with God possible. The message lands close to home because Adam's story is our story too. We know what it is to distrust God, to choose our own way, to cover our failures with fig leaves of our own making, whether that is minimising our mistakes, justifying poor decisions, or even turning religious activity into a performance of self-sufficiency. The profound good news is that what the first Adam could not accomplish, Jesus, the last Adam, has fully accomplished. Our righteousness does not rest on our ability to obey perfectly but entirely on the obedience of Christ, received by faith. Discussion questions: 1. Jesus was present at creation and was not a late addition to God's story - how does understanding Jesus as central to the entire biblical narrative from the very beginning change the way you read and interpret Scripture? 2. Our righteousness does not rest on our ability to obey perfectly but depends entirely on the obedience of Jesus received by faith - in what practical ways does this truth challenge or reshape how you approach your relationship with God day to day? 3. How does recognising that God consistently takes the first step toward you affect the way you respond to Him in seasons of spiritual distance or doubt? 4. Where are you still trying to cover what only Jesus can forgive, and where are you still trying to earn what God has already freely offered - which of these two tendencies do you find most active in your own life, and what would it look like to surrender it?Watch at: https://youtu.be/ywlk605hCj8

   Purpose

What does it mean to live with genuine purpose? This message takes us straight into the heart of that question by grounding us in Luke 10, where Jesus sends out 72 disciples with a mission that is both thrilling and sobering. The central insight here is that purpose is not something we manufacture from within ourselves by cataloguing our strengths or following our passions. It is something bestowed upon us from outside ourselves, by a God who is a sending God. From Abraham in Genesis 12 to Moses in Exodus 3 to Jesus himself in John 17, the arc of Scripture tells a consistent story: God sends, and His people go. We are invited to see ourselves as part of that same unbroken movement. The 72 were not given comfort or certainty before they left. They were sent as lambs among wolves, with no money, no supplies, and no guarantees. And yet they went. And it was in the going, not before it, that the power of Jesus met them. That pattern speaks directly to us. The life of purpose God calls us into is not a life of comfort first and obedience second. It is a life of trust, of letting go of control, and of stepping into the mission with open hands. Discussion questions: 1. Jesus sent the 72 disciples out as 'lambs among wolves' with no money, no supplies, and no sandals - what does this radical dependence on God reveal about the relationship between trust and purpose, and where in your own life do you find it hardest to let go of control? 2. N.T. Wright's description of the Christian purpose includes announcing redemption, healing, and love through story, music, art, philosophy, education, politics, and more - how does this expand your understanding of what it means to participate in God's mission in your specific vocation or daily life? 3. Jesus warns his disciples not to rejoice that spirits submit to them, but to rejoice that their names are written in heaven - in what ways might we be tempted to find our identity in what we accomplish for God rather than in belonging to God, and what is the danger in that?Watch at: https://youtu.be/MU-yxp5WJtc
