About Kinsey Queery
Join your hosts Erik G. and Will as we all try to untangle the ways LGBTQIA+ literature and media are problematic. No matter which way it crosses the queerness intersection, we'll be looking both ways and figuring it out as we go.

Will wants you to know I joked about us not getting another episode out until September and there they were, editing away. Enjoy another one of our scintillating conversations where we discuss..... something or other. Truth be told I never remember what I write before a deadline, just that it's good enough. Don't forget to follow the show on Twitter @kinseyqueery, and your hosts at @ereadsaplenty and @_Wihbot. And don't forget you can always write in to the show at kinseyqueery@gmail.com for a chance to have your emails read on air while we take all the credit for the content!

A Cumback... For Pride
Surprised Sis?!?! Thought you'd seen the last of us? Think again. We were gone for a minute because holy shit this Spring lacked any kind of awakening. But if you missed us, enjoy our countless era. No thoughts, few themes - Just. Vibes. Babygirl it's just two homos with ADHD and a dream. Listen or don't. But How Does the Discourse Make You Feel?
It's Black History Month, so to celebrate I'm publishing this episode at 11:59 PM on February 28th. Finally, it's time to get back and finish our two part episodes on the original L Word. For our Black History night cap, we're talking episode 109, "Listen Up". Bette and Tina are taking up group parenting classes with a multiracial cast of upper-middle class people. While Bette and Tina are separately trying to ease the tension between them as Tina prepares to carry their child, Bette is confronted by a single dark-skinned Black woman for using her paper-bag pass to advance in her career. Bette is forced to navigate her blackness and her queerness in a brand new way, maybe learning where the two intersect and engaging more with the parts of herself she tries to hide.... or maybe she gives up entirely on Group Therapy and being challenged, and uses this to finally get out of her boring ass relationship. Who knows? We do. But you gotta listen. Don't forget to follow the show on Twitter @kinseyqueery, and your hosts at @ereadsaplenty and @_Wihbot. If you or a loved one have been the victim of an over-eager Lesbian Lover with a connection at the print shop, write us your story at kinseyqueery@gmail.com.

Year in Queer
We waited a week just to make sure 2022 actually came around. It did, kinda, sorta, not really. Just to break things up we're doing something completely untold and revolutionary - nothing that has ever been seen or done before! It's. A. RETROSPECTIVE!!!! Join your ever charming hosts as we talk about the queer things we read/watched/listened to in 2021 that we actually enjoyed. And one thing we didn't. Or I didn't. I went off on this book. Don't forget to follow the show on Twitter @kinseyqueery, and your hosts at @ereadsaplenty and @_Wihbot. And don't forget you can always write in to the show at kinseyqueery@gmail.com for a chance to have your emails read on air while we take all the credit for the content!

Soldier's Gal Pal
CW Up top: Language. The following episode is our reaction to a dramatized depiction of a real hate crime that occurred in the long ago years of 1999. The following may contain homophobic and transphobic slurs used in reference. Hey Sailor. Or Soldier. Or potential queer somewhere out there in the Ether. I'd apologize for being inconsistent, but I'm cute so we're going to call it "spontaneous". To celebrate my spontaneity, we're going to be talking about "Soldier's Girl", a 2003 dramatization of a 90's hate crime committed against a young man in love with a trans woman by a young man in love with a young man in love with a trans woman. Does the joy of staring at a young Lee Pace playing a trans woman outweigh the brutality of America under DADT((and all the other institutionalized -isms?))? Probably not. But join us on this journey anyway! Don't forget to follow the show on Twitter @kinseyqueery, and your hosts at @ereadsaplenty and @_Wihbot. And don't forget you can always write in to the show at kinseyqueery@gmail.com for a chance to have your emails read on air while we take all the credit for the content!

Dream House as Two Baguettes
This was supposed to come out before the end of spooky season, but this episode was on its own journey and got there when it needed to. So offer it your love and support as a fresh baby-queer episode. This time we're talking about Carmen Maria Machado's memoir, Into the Dream House, a horrifying, haunting, beautiful reflection on the author's experience in an abusive relationship and the ways that the worst kinds of abuse are perfectly legal. With sensuous prose, jagged emotional vulnerability, and a biting wit that can make you laugh and cry in equal measure, listen to two broken people try to tell you all the reasons this book is worth a damn. Don't forget to follow the show on Twitter @kinseyqueery, and your hosts at @ereadsaplenty and @_Wihbot. And don't forget you can always write in to the show at kinseyqueery@gmail.com for a chance to have your emails read on air while we take all the credit for the content!

Episode 8.5(?) - And We Oop
Howdy y'all! Our schedule got a little S.A.D., so our once proclaimed September episode has been replaced with a blooper real! Listen to all the gags that land on the cutting room floor(excluding, I hope, all the breathing sounds. This was not how we wanted to enter the world of ASMR). But fret not! We'll get our ish together for the next episode, Carmen Maria Machado's Into the Dream House. Don't forget to follow the show on Twitter @kinseyqueery, and your hosts at @ereadsaplenty and @_Wihbot. And if you or someone you love have lied on a resume, bleached your hair, or been haunted by a strangely homophobic ghost, write into us at kinseyqueery@gmail.com

Episode 8 - The Haunting of Bottom's Manor
What can the sordid love story of a Twinky street urchin, Graham, and the Duke(? Count? Lord? Knight? Point is there's some inbreeding) who's hired him, Sir Richard Allinson, to tutor his anemic Victorian orphans tell us about ourselves? Very little, surprisingly. Especially when they're all found in Bonnie Dee's The Tutor. Set in a run-down country estate in one of the most downtrodden parts of 19th century England, listen along as your hosts discuss the merits of bleaching your hair and moving away from your problems with nothing but a fake resume and scabies. Can Graham and Richard overcome the Manor's haunted past to break the curse, save the boys, and live happily ever after? Or will the relationship sour, forcing Graham to shave his head and try ANOTHER town? Don't forget to follow the show on Twitter @kinseyqueery, and your hosts at @ereadsaplenty and @_Wihbot. Episode 7 - Slut Shame Shane
Bi-Panic? Bi-Panic! Between Will's sickly sweet obsession with Shane's Spine and our mutual desire to be turned inside out by Marina, Jenny and Lacey aren't the only ones begging for the sweet Sapphic embrace of The L Word's two hottest people. In Episode 104, "Longing", Alice has to deal with a new admirer-turned-obsessive who uses her connections at the print shop to plaster Shane's face all up and through LA's Lesbian hotspots. In a study of Longing unbound, can Shane navigate these emotional rip-currents, or will they get swept away in Lacey? Listen to your hosts get tripped up and tongue-tied trying to described how f**ked up Lacey really had our person Shane. Posters... the girl printed posters.

Episode 6 - And They Were Firefighters
Damon Suede's Hot Head is a beautiful novel that answers the tough questions that have plagued the Gays for generations: What feels gay and homophobic at the same time? Set against a post-9/11 New York, Firefighters Griff and Dante push through the haze of their sexual and romantic milieu in front of a live Russian with a camcorder. After Dante gaslights Griff into joining him in some uninformed uniform play for pay, the two spend the rest of the novel trying to understand just how one can be New York FireFighters(the APEX of white male masculinity) and a bottom at the same time! Can the two fan the flames a little brighter, or will things fizzle out? And more importantly, can your hosts survive a landscape chock full of toxic masculinity and toxic fumes? Listen along to find out. Follow Erik on Twitter: @e_rico22, or on Tumblr at gold_lief_Erikson Follow Will on Tumblr at ihavelosttheabilitytoucan. Episode 5 - Only SwimFans
Boy howdy are we out of our depths on this one. Yes, that was a swimming pun. No, I am not above a good pun. Join your hosts Erik G and Will as they discuss Lane Hayes's Out in the Deep, the story of two rival water polo players who find themselves on the same team competing for the spotlight. When that competitive spirit reveals a deep and mutual admiration turns out to be a resounding and unspoken attraction, can they balance their private courtship and their public displays of disaffection? They're 23, so the answer's obviously "no"... but that doesn't make listening along any less fun! Don't forget to follow the show on Twitter @kinseyqueery, and your hosts at @ereadsaplenty and @_Wihbot. Especially if you or someone you know are afflicted by water polo.

Epsiode 4 - Two Brain Cells, One Plot
We’re tired of the Young and the Restless queers of HBO’s Looking, so this week Erik and Will take a look at Dom and Lynn’s relationship, and try to untangle what their relationship can tell us about our own. Listen along as we go gently into that sweet nude hot tub, and fantasize longingly about having a friend like Doris when we grow up while we try to figure out who had it right all along - Dom, Lynn, or Rugby matt Follow Erik on Twitter: @ereadsaplenty, or on Tumblr at gold_lief_Erikson Follow Will on Tumblr at ihavelosttheabilitytoucan, or on IG or twitter @_wihbot. Episode 3 - Pato in the Mirror
We've never needed a reason to cancel the White Gaze before, but my word if this episode didn't give us every reason to decolonize! Join your hosts Erik G and Will as they recap and react to episode 5 of HBO's "Looking". Introducing a new boo to the friend grou(p) is a challenge, especially when you're dating across race and class lines, but things really take a turn for the worse when you and your friends are all trash. Listen along to the thrilling tale of Patrick White Man and his merry little token Auggie straight up gaslighting Ricky. Follow the show on twitter @Kinseyqueery, and the hosts @Ereadsaplenty and @_Wihbot. I swear, we're better company than the subjects of this series.

Episode 1 - Doesn't Taste New

Can the two overcome their differences in race, class, education, and sexual identity to build a solid relationship in the deep Sacramento area? But more importantly, can we get through this episode without weeping(again)? Follow the show on twitter @Kinseyqueery, and the hosts @Ereadsaplenty and @_Wihbot.
