If you want smart talk about the future, subscribe to Kirnel of Truth.
In this episode of Kirnel of Truth, we dive into the growing public skepticism surrounding AI and the urgent momentum building for government regulation.
We discuss the massive job displacement already affecting white-collar workers and explore why solutions like Universal Basic Income (UBI) might leave us unfulfilled. From the stark warnings of AI godfather Sir Geoffrey Hinton regarding human extinction to the danger of leaving critical ethical decisions—like the use of mass domestic surveillance and autonomous weapons—in the hands of tech CEOs, it is clear the AI industry is currently operating like the wild west.
Key Topics Discussed:
The existential risks of AI identified by thought leaders like Stephen Hawking, Nick Bostrom, and Yuval Noah Harari.
How Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World parallels the potential future of a displaced workforce placated by digital consumption.
The shifting public attitude, with recent polls showing a steady decrease in the number of Americans who consider AI a net benefit.
The growing chorus of political leaders—including Senators Mark Warner, Mark Kelly, and Elizabeth Warren—speaking out on the economic dangers and job losses caused by AI.
A proposed roadmap for comprehensive AI regulation, including prohibiting specific use cases, creating a bi-partisan ethics panel, and ensuring human oversight in key decisions.
The AI tide is changing, and it's time for society—through our elected representatives—to decide how this technology is used. Tune in to find out why maintaining a "humanity first" approach is the most critical element of AI alignment.

Connecting the Dots on AI: How AI Will Transform Society
Are we vastly underestimating how much AI will change our lives? In this episode, Kirn and Jon explore the data suggesting that society is on the brink of a transformation as dramatic as the start of the 2020 pandemic. By connecting seemingly unrelated trends in technology, labor, and economics, we project a future that is rapidly approaching—and it isn't necessarily pretty.
We break down the "dots" that lead to a radical new reality:
The End of Human Superiority: Why AI models are improving exponentially and will soon outperform experts in law, medicine, and journalism.
Substitution vs. Complement: Unlike the Industrial Revolution, AI isn't just a tool to help humans; it is designed to replace them.
The Algorithm of Everything: From writing wills to composing operas and telling jokes, we explore how almost every human task is an algorithm that can—and will—be automated.
The Rise of the Humanoid Robot: How robots like Boston Dynamics’ Atlas will move from the screen to the physical world, displacing both white-collar and blue-collar workers.
The Abundance Economy: A look at a "Post-Scarcity" world where the cost of goods plummets, wages disappear, and Universal Basic Income (UBI) becomes a necessity.
We also dive into the heavy hitters: what happens to the housing market when jobs disappear? Will elite universities survive when a degree no longer guarantees a career? And most importantly, is there any political will left to regulate this technology before the "genie is out of the bottle"?
Join us as we attempt to map out the sinister, uncertain, and fascinating world we are about to inhabit.
Key Takeaways:
AGI Timeline: We may only have a year or two to align AI with human interests before it’s too late.
Economic Shift: We are moving from a model of scarcity to a model of abundance, requiring an entirely new economic textbook.
Job Displacement: AI agents will soon move from prompting to autonomous action, acting as independent thinkers.
