13 - Pinterest has ALOT to answer for
Pinterest: wedding planning's best friend… or the reason your perfectly lovely wedding suddenly doesn't feel good enough? This week on Knot Your Average Wedding Podcast, Precious is defending Pinterest, Sean is absolutely not having it, and we're getting into the world of wedding mood boards, unrealistic expectations, endless scrolling and the pressure to make every single detail look perfect. From the £100,000-looking wedding saved to a £20,000 budget, to the tiny details your guests probably won't even notice, we're asking the question: are we planning weddings we genuinely love, or are we trying to recreate someone else's highlight reel? We're talking about how social media influences wedding trends, where Pinterest can genuinely help couples, and when inspiration starts turning into comparison. Because there's a difference between saving ideas that reflect your style and feeling like you need to include every trend you've ever pinned. And naturally, we take it to Wedding Court, where Sean argues that Pinterest is ruining weddings and Precious attempts to defend her beloved mood boards. Plus, we've got a potentially outrageous situation in The Knot Inbox involving a future mother-in-law, a white dress and a proposed second first dance. Yes, really. We need your verdict. Finally, in Unknot This, we're sharing our Pinterest Purge - a practical way to clear the noise, focus on what actually matters to you as a couple, and stop letting the algorithm dictate your wedding. In this episode, we're talking about: Pinterest vs reality: Why a gorgeous inspiration photo doesn't always translate to a real wedding or a realistic budget. Wedding trends and social media pressure: Are couples choosing what they love, or what they've been told they should want? The comparison trap: When inspiration turns into feeling that your own wedding isn't good enough. Wedding budgets: The hidden costs behind those perfectly styled photos and why copying a look isn't always as simple as it seems. The details guests actually notice: Are we spending money on things that genuinely improve the day, or just things that look good online? Wedding Court: Is Pinterest ruining weddings? Sean says yes. Precious says it's not that simple. The Knot Inbox: A future mother-in-law wants to wear white and have her own first dance. Where do you draw the line? Unknot This: Our Pinterest Purge - how to stop endlessly scrolling and create a wedding that feels like you. The Knot Inbox: We need your verdict! Imagine your future mother-in-law announces she's wearing white to your wedding. Then she books herself and her husband a special first dance immediately after yours. Are you putting your foot down, letting it go, or questioning the entire family dynamic? We want to hear your opinions. Find us on Instagram and TikTok and join the debate. Our biggest takeaway Pinterest isn't necessarily the problem. It's the pressure to make your wedding look like someone else's. Save the ideas. Take the inspiration. Make the mood board. But remember - your wedding should be a reflection of your relationship, not a recreation of somebody else's Pinterest board. Because the goal isn't to create a wedding that strangers online will approve of. It's to create a day that feels like you.

12 - Lets Talk Money, Baby
In this episode, we talk about: 💷 How much does a wedding actually cost? Why there isn't one magic number when it comes to setting a wedding budget - and why your guest count, venue, location and date can completely change the maths. 💸 Budget before Pinterest Why your first step shouldn't be creating a mood board or booking the dream venue. Work out what you can actually afford first. 🥂 Where should you spend your money? Entertainment, photography, content, food and drink - versus the little details that might look gorgeous but nobody will remember five minutes later. 👀 The hidden costs nobody talks about VAT, service charges, corkage, supplier meals, delivery, setup, breakdown, overtime, accommodation, transport and all those tiny "might as well" decisions that quietly eat your budget. 📈 Wedding budget creep "It's only another £300..." "We've already spent £20k..." "Might as well do it properly..." Sound familiar? ⚖️ Wedding Court: Should you borrow money to pay for your wedding? Precious is firmly on the NO side. Sean thinks it's a little more complicated. Expect arguments. 🪢 Unknot This: The £500 Rule Before spending an extra £500, ask yourself: "Will we remember this in five years?" If yes, maybe spend it. If no, save it. It's not about having the cheapest wedding - it's about spending your money intentionally.

11 - Wedding Advice We'd Actually Take Ourselves
We've spent the first ten episodes talking about wedding chaos, difficult families, questionable guests, things people secretly judge and even picking apart our own wedding. So, for once, we're going to be helpful. 😂 In Episode 11, we're sharing the wedding advice we'd genuinely give to couples planning their big day - based on what we've learned from years of working in weddings and from making plenty of mistakes ourselves. We're talking about: 💸 Budget first, venue second - why falling in love with a venue before working out your priorities can cause absolute carnage later. 👀 Stop asking everyone for their opinion - family, friends, Instagram and the inevitable “well, when I got married…” 💍 Work out what actually matters to you - and if you genuinely don't care about something, stop spending hours making a decision about it. 🤝 Choosing your suppliers - why personality, communication and trust matter just as much as a beautiful Instagram feed. ⏰ Don't cram every second of your wedding day - because your wedding isn't an Olympic event and you don't need to be somewhere every three minutes. 🌅 Our niche wedding tip: steal 20 minutes from your wedding day and spend it together. No guests, no family, no phones - just the two of you. 🌧️ Have a Plan B - but make sure it's a Plan B you'd actually be happy with. 🎶 Where we'd spend the money - and why entertainment is something we really don't think couples should scrimp on. Because ultimately, our biggest piece of advice is pretty simple: Don't plan the wedding everyone else thinks you should have. Plan the wedding you'll actually remember.

10 - Would We Change Anything About Our Own Wedding
Four years married… would we actually do our wedding the same way again? In this episode, we’re getting brutally honest about our own wedding — the bits we loved, the things we’d happily spend money on again, the things we absolutely wouldn’t, and the things we stressed over that, in hindsight, really didn’t matter. We’re talking about: 💍 The moments we remember most — from Precious’ brother officiating the ceremony to Sean crying his way through the entire thing. 😂 The things that still make us laugh — including a slightly confused best man, pints of Jägerbombs and a first dance that didn’t quite go to plan. 💸 The things that were worth every penny… and the £450 wedding cake we probably should have skipped. 🍽️ Why spending around £20k on catering ended up being one of the most stressful parts of the day. 🎀 The tiny details Precious cared way too much about — and the things Sean absolutely did not care about. 👯♀️ The biggest thing Precious would change: people pleasing, the wedding morning and not spending enough time with her sisters. 🎶 Why entertainment was one thing we definitely wouldn't scrimp on — and why the dancefloor is still one of our favourite memories. 💑 What four years of marriage has taught us about each other, working together and standing up for your partner. ⚡ Plus, we put each other through Rapid Fire, before getting properly honest with our “Oh Fuck It” questions. And, of course, we answer the big one: Would we have the same wedding again? This one is a little more personal than usual, but hopefully there are plenty of things you can steal for your own wedding — particularly the bits we've learned the hard way. Knot Your Average Wedding Podcast is hosted by husband-and-wife wedding planners Precious and Sean of Green Lily Events — bringing you the honest, funny and occasionally chaotic side of weddings.

9 - Things people secretly judge at your wedding
Are your guests really judging your wedding? Or are we all just secretly noticing the same ridiculous little things? In this episode of Knot Your Average Wedding Podcast, we’re having a laugh about the things guests notice at weddings — from the moment they arrive right through to the dancefloor. We’re talking about: What guests actually notice when they first arrive Whether people secretly care about having somewhere to sit during the drinks reception How quickly guests decide whether a wedding has "good vibes" The ultimate wedding entrance: the Baraat Why people are always late to the ceremony The guests who think they're the photographer Why you really should put your phone away during the ceremony What happens when speeches go on just a little bit too long The things guests notice about seating plans, food, drinks and the overall atmosphere Why the best weddings aren't necessarily the biggest or most expensive The difference between a wedding that looks perfect and one that actually feels brilliant Plus, we put one of the biggest modern wedding debates in Wedding Court: Should phones be banned at weddings? And, as always, we finish with Unknot This — our top tip for couples who are worrying about what their guests think. This episode also happens to be a special one for us as it goes live on our fourth wedding anniversary, so we're reflecting on our own wedding, four years of marriage, and everything we've learned from working hundreds of weddings since. Because ultimately, your guests aren't walking around with a clipboard marking your wedding out of ten. They're there to celebrate with you. Knot Your Average Wedding Podcast is hosted by Precious and Sean of Green Lily Events — wedding planners, event professionals and a husband-and-wife team who have seen pretty much everything a wedding can throw at you.
