20261020 A Conversation - Submit to the Government (Rom 13.1-8)
ornerstone Wesleyan Church, North Gower is taking 2026 to read through and preach through the Bible using the "One Story That Leads To Jesus" Bible reading plan (created by "The Bible Project").
To this end, Pastor Nate and Pastor Dan are recording their usual "sermon prep" conversation as a podcast so you can get a bird’s eye view of the process, and perhaps grow in your own understanding and faith. This conversation is rough and unfinished, and not everything we talk about will make its way into the final teaching. But it hopefully gives you some additional food for thought.

How does Paul's encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus change the way he understands his life and purpose? What does this teach us about what it means to follow Jesus as King? Grow in Groups (Heart) G1. Paul says, “But God has helped me to this very day” (Acts 26:22). How can remembering God's promises and past faithfulness help us endure difficult seasons? G2. Paul tells Agrippa that the Messiah's suffering and resurrection fulfil what Moses and the prophets foretold (Acts 26:22–23). How does seeing Jesus as the fulfilment of God's story strengthen your confidence in the gospel? G3. When Festus calls Paul insane, Paul responds with truth and respect rather than anger (Acts 26:24–26). What makes it difficult to respond calmly when someone mocks or challenges our faith? How can we follow Paul's example? G4. Paul describes his message as “true and reasonable” (Acts 26:25). What gives you confidence that the Christian faith is true and reasonable? How would you explain that confidence to someone who disagrees with you? G5. Paul doesn't pressure Agrippa but expresses his desire for everyone listening to come to faith in Jesus (Acts 26:27–29). How can we share the gospel with both urgency and patience, allowing the Holy Spirit to work in people's lives? G6. Paul's testimony is shaped to connect with his audience and their understanding (Acts 26:2–3, 26–27). How can we get to know people's stories and find meaningful points of connection when sharing our faith? Show Up and Serve (Hands) S1. Think of someone you know who is like Festus (dismissive of faith) or Agrippa (familiar with Christianity but undecided). What is one practical step you can take this week to pray for them, love them well, and share your faith with courage and respect?
