EP 6: Who Do You Think You Are?
"Who do you think you are?"
This was a question posed to me quite often growing up. A rhetorical question - not one that was ever truly meant to be answered, but more like disguised judgment and frustration for my attitude and/or behavior toward my parents.
So, I ask you…who do you think you are? Truly. Without the hidden judgment, or passive aggressive tone. Really. And how often do you think about it?
When we don’t put in the effort to truly know who we are, we run the risk of becoming who and what others think we are. We can be labeled, pigeon - holed, stigmatized, held back. We can fit a role that others created for us without our permission. And before we even realize it, we’ve created a career – a life – that was never truly ours, not authentic to who we truly are or what we desire to be.
