Picking up where we left off last week, we discuss the good, bad and ugly of 90s Bollywood movies. With Hirok da, we discuss the forbidden pleasures of watching a movie which our parents warned us against (and watched themselves), the rise of the Khans and the role of SRK in a Bengali's life, 90s Bollywood music and the emergence of Kumar Sanu before finishing off with the two Bollywood movies you should never watch.

Cinema dekhar Basic Instinct

And today we chat about those stories in the first part of two episode adda with Hirok da who joins us all the way from Singapore.

Kolkatans love their biryani. They also love their phuchka. They can't decide which to love more - and there's valid reason for that.

Season 2 is around the corner but, in the meantime, Shubho da and I thought of warming up our listeners with something new and fresh. With Soumitra Kaku in tow, we attempt something quite unique - a Bengali podcast on cricket. Let the games begin!

Call it a holy trinity or West Bengal’s homegrown Bermuda triangle - there’s something about these places which keeps drawing Bengali travellers to Dipuda i.e. Digha, Puri & Darjeeling. From the humble dada-boudi hotels to the lavish feasts at Glenary’s and Keventers, from the sun-kissed peaks of Kanchenjunga to the indefatigable waves of the Bay of Bengal, from the pious fervour for Jagannath Deb to some quiet moments of solitude shared with loved ones, Dipuda has something for all.

Kolkata Biryani - The Emotion
What connects Rabindranath Tagore, Satyajit Ray and Nawab Wajid Ali Shah? We don’t really know but are pretty confident that all of them would have enjoyed a plate of piping hot biryani at some point of time in their lives. In the second episode of our podcast Kolir Kotha, Shubho da and I chat about what makes biryani an irreplaceable life force for most Bengalis. And why the biryani aloo is probably the greatest thing ever invented (yes, we are looking at you, sliced bread)
