Kulture Interview : Lamha — an interview with writer, director, and producer Mohamed Hilmy
Lamha follows the emotional journey of a young girl navigating the quiet, complex layers of her mother’s life. What begins as innocence gradually unfolds into a story of love, confusion, and emotional awakening, as her admiration turns into something more complicated particularly toward a man who enters her mother’s world.
Confronted with feelings beyond her years—jealousy, loss, and a fragile sense of belonging, she is forced to reckon with truths that reshape her understanding of love and identity.
Rather than a story of fear, Lamha is a deeply personal exploration of emotion of the moments that shape, unsettle, and ultimately transform us.
Directed and written by Mohamed Hilmy, the film stars Aisha Ali, Ahmed Easa, and Ahmed Sharif, and is set for release on 29 April 2026.

CONVERSATION: Blooming Against the Odds: Meet Ajja
Meet Hawwa Ajufaan, aka Ajja @mrs.curlyflorist (https://www.instagram.com/mrs.curlyflorist/) ! When the Covid-19 pandemic paused her 15-year hospitality career, a temporary gig at a Malé flower shop sparked a brand new passion. Today, she isn't just arranging flowers, she’s telling stories.
Watch as Ajja works her magic in the studio. Instead of copying Pinterest, she designs custom floral art that breathes life into spaces, perfectly matching her clients' personalities while keeping the Maldives' unique climate, culture and architecture in mind.
Why Ajja is an inspiration:
The Hustle: With no local floristry schools, she turns her vacations into study trips. She is currently on track to earn her International Master Florist title in Belgium.
The Vision: She recently launched her virtual studio, Mrs. Curly Florist, with the ultimate dream of teaching young Maldivians this delicate yet powerful craft.
"If you maintain quality and trust in yourself, nothing is impossible." Sometimes, the biggest setbacks are just planting the seeds for your next chapter.
