After The Wedding Then What?! (Part 1)
The wedding is one day. Marriage is everything that comes after.
We spend so much time preparing women and men for the wedding itself, but very little time preparing them for the reality of waking up the next morning and actually having to build a life together.
In this episode, we get honest about the part nobody puts in the wedding brochure: expectations versus reality, changing people, disappearing effort, emotional labour, intimacy, trust, conflict, and the frightening discovery that you may not truly know someone until you live with them.
We talk about women who enter marriage expecting partnership but quietly become managers, men who want peace without examining what they bring into the home, and the uncomfortable truth that loving someone before marriage does not automatically mean knowing how to care for them after it.
We also look at marriage through an Islamic lens, why marriage is an act of ibadah, what it means to enter it as an amanah, and why love, mercy, responsibility and accountability have to exist alongside the roles and responsibilities of husband and wife.
Because sometimes marriage reveals the most beautiful parts of a person.
And sometimes…
it reveals the parts they were very good at hiding.
So after the wedding, when the guests have gone home, the photographs are taken, and it’s finally just the two of you…
