Learning How to Access Resources for your Child with Special Needs
Navigating the school system when your child needs additional support can feel overwhelming—especially when you’re trying to understand the difference between a 504 Plan and an IEP, what your child may qualify for, and where to even begin.
In this episode, we’re joined by Dr. Sandra I. Aldana, Fellow for Special Education at the USC University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities, for an important conversation about helping families understand and access educational resources for children with special needs.
We discuss:• The difference between a 504 Plan and an IEP• How parents can begin the evaluation and eligibility process• What services and accommodations may be available• How to advocate for your child within the school system• Questions parents should be asking teachers and school administrators• Resources families may not realize are available to them

From Acquaintances to Real Friends The Art of Reciprocal Relationships
When it comes to relationships, the quality matters more than quantity.
We don't need hundreds of people. We need people with whom we can laugh, cry, grow, disagree, forgive, celebrate together and most importantly be ourselves. Who are the people in your life who consistently show up for you? And just as importantly—who are you consistently showing up for?
Don't chase relationships that require you to constantly prove your worth. Invest in the people who make room for you, and become the kind of friend who makes room for others.
Long-term relationships aren't built by finding perfect people. They're built through reciprocity, consistency, vulnerability, generosity, boundaries, and the willingness to invest over time.
