When we are threatened, when we are insecure, uncomfortable, don't want to be seen, we curl into ourselves. You can think of trauma as an imploding star versus an expanding wide into ourselves energy. So we wrap around our spine. So imagining that your energy and breath can expand out, breathing shoulder to shoulder, rib cage to rib cage, hip to hip, thigh to thigh, and calf to calf. You are a leaf unfurling wide into yourself, feeling the clothes on the edges of your body. And if it's hard to imagine that, you're a balloon, you're expanding, filling with your own breath, or you're filling in from edge to edge. […]
